Just a thought from another thread.
Mine really isn't a bench amp because it's big and sits on the floor of my shop. It's the first amp any of my builds or other projects gets plugged in to.
I did put it on a diet. I ditched the PV Blue Marvels and installed an Eminence Lil' Texas and an Emiinence EM12N - both of those being neo-magnet speakers. IIRC it's under 40 lbs now. This amp sounds great in its own right and sometimes I just sit in my shop and play it just for fun.

Mine is a Roland Microcube ver 1. You've seen 'em a million times.
Great little box; takes up less space than a two-slice toaster.

Fair point. We really don’t need to “see” the amp.

At the bench is a Peavey 1x10 from the '80s. At one time it was okay sounding, but now it is strange and dark sounding, even with a donor speaker, and hard to judge much except "does it work?". Communally in the shop we have a DRRI, an acoustisonic, and a Hartke bass amp. Those get used for more critical listening. The Deluxe is great, but I find I can only use the normal channel for things like balancing pickups, or else everything is just going to sound too bright to me.
When I was doing stuff from home, my test amp was the old blackface Twin. Not only a good amp, but one I knew very well, so it was ideal for testing some very subtle things like trying new pickups or comparing capacitors.

I while checking out a new build, today, I learned my reverb and chorus don’t work. I don’t care about the chorus, but the reverb is pretty nice on this amp.

Mine is a 20 year-old Fender Squire Champ 15B bass practice amp that has been left turned on for days more time than I can count. The input jack has been modified to a standard old-school Switchcraft NO type as used on the old tube amps with jumper wires going to the circuit board. The second input jack no longer exists. It works.
