I just got a new MacBook M1 pro with Logic pro loaded on it. My old midi interface is not supported for this system. I am looking at getting the Focusrite 4i4 with midi. I have a Roland GR20 I want to control my software instruments with. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on it?

I've had the smaller Focusrite and aside from a few quirky things that I'm pretty sure were Win 7/HP related, worked fine. Can't speak to your specifications but I'm sure it'd be fine. Maybe see if there are any Logic forums that would shed more light on your specific questions.

Thanks for responding Auf Kiltre, I picked it up this afternoon. Downloaded the software, plugged everything in and it works! So now the fun begins learning how to use Logic Pro.

I have the 18i8. I’m happy with it.

I'm not a Mac user but I think it should work just fine as well. I have a Focusrite 18i20 2nd generation that works great. I believe the mic preamps and converters are the same as the 4i4 but the 3rd generation's specs are a little better than the former models like I have. There's just more mic channels and there are digital I/O options that I use a lot. I would love to step up to higher quality converters but the next step for me is a big one and I can't justify the expense right now.
I hate that I have expensive ears for audio. I burned through the entry level stuff many years ago and working in studios as much as I have has made me appreciate pristine quality audio. I could buy another house for the amount of money I have spent on gear over the years but the fact is that the entry level stuff these days is SOOOO good compared to what it used to be and excellent recordings are possible using it. I can make due with what I have now but pro audio is where my G.A.S. lives. Sometimes I just have to buy another microphone to relieve the pressure.

Thanks for the responses. So far it’s working pretty good. I also picked up a Audio technica at2020 mic. I had some cheap mics and wanted to up it a little. Peegoo, that’s crazy cheap!
