Ok, this is weird. I just figured out my new bass was made on my 41st wedding anniversary *This Year, Month and Day*

I typically play with flats. This bass came with D'Addario 170XL's. I had bought as set of D'Addario Nickel EXL160's (.50-.105's). After playing with my normally favorite TI Jazz Flats yesterday and today I came to the conclusion this bass was made for D'Addario rounds. I put the EX160's it. I will save the TI Jazz Flats for my Fender Player Precision bass so nothing lost. Nice big round tone again.

The bass came stock with two volume pots. If the J style pickup volume was greater than 75% there was some noise. I wired it per drawing I made in link. Wow, what a difference this made. Not only Fatter tone but extremely quiet. That surprised me since trying this to a Fender PJ bass I had years ago didn't work so well. These MDF pickups are awesome! As it came stock it had the output typical of my Bass with Active preamp. Also, unlike my Fender Jazz that I wired with S-1 Series/parallel switch it did not make it darker sounding just fatter and still big sounding.

I had an SB-2 that was my no.1 for at least 10 years. For some silly reason I thought I needed to sell it to buy another bass. Wish I had it back.
