When my wife finds out in addition to the amp head I Ordered a G&L SB-2 4 string bass in Surf Green from Sweetwater. Has a P style and a J bridge pickup. I bought a set of D'Addario .050-.105 Nickel Wound strings I will put on it if I don't like the ones that come stock.

Fine choice that SB-2. I have an LB-100. The build quality is outstanding. It sounds great and I reach for it more than other more expensive basses on the stand. Waiting to hear your review.

"I bought a set of D'Addario .050-.105 Nickel Wound strings I will put on it if I don't like the ones that come stock."
Following the same, flawless logic, you should've also ordered yet another bass in case you don't like the SB-2.

Thankfully Herself thinks many instruments are works of art . Never had any grief about instrument , but speakers are another story .

Thanks 😁 Traildragger, I get your point, lol . My logic sometimes defies logic , ha! I have always been picky about strings and do not have a problem with trying several. I find what strings work for one may not work for another. If I can’t take the feel and sound of the rounds I will go with flats.

I agree: when in doubt, go with flats.

Maybe she'll show leniency and garrote him with flats instead of rounds.
Less chafing...

Maybe she'll show leniency and garrote him with flats instead of rounds. Less chafing... I received the bass earlier today. Excellent bass. Pickups are as hot as my Active bass but tone is not overly growly (which I like). It really pushes the amp volume. Had to turn off the 10db high gain switch Hardware is heavier duty and tuners are smoother and no slop. The D'Addario rounds on this or not too bad for rounds. Sound is awesome and the windings are not very aggressive. I have a set of flats I may try sometime when this wear out. It is a beautifully made instrument for being made in indonesia. Totally surprised on that one. If I ever decide to sell a bass, this will not be one. I am told this bass cuts through the mix nicely and I am positive it will do just that.

Dang! Better open some windows before all that air starts moving. How much does the instrument weigh?

I could have bought the one that weighed 8lbs. 14oz. Both had Mahogany bodies but I chose this one for better sustain and it does that in spades

If you stick with one color and never have more than two observable at any time, she may not notice. The trick is stashing them, a pile of guitars in their case/gig bags will give it away.
Depending on salesmanship along with earnings from gigs you can maybe pull off a solid body electric, a semi hollow body because it’s “totally” different, an acoustic so you don’t wake up the baby and maybe a bass, for the occasional pickup gig.
The guys that have a music room and all their guitars hanging on the wall are truly blessed. She is an angle or at some time took the kids and half your income.
I’m in a strange mood today.

I have hangers on the wall but my son-law made me a wooden guitar stand for 5 so I have 4 guitar’s in cases, 5string bass on wall and my other 4 string basses on the wooden stand next to me computer bench. What ever instrument I am playing at the time I have a metal stand my wife bought me. By the way , she knows the guitars I have in cases so I am fine there. I have cases for all my instruments but this one and the Fender Player series P. I use a nicely padded soft-case gig bag for it and this. Cases take up way to much space. This new bass is becoming easily my favorite with clean piano like tone and volume output of my active 5’r.

A couple of years back my wife got me the hercules 5 guitar stand for Christmas, it’s in my bed room. 4 individual Guitar Stands, GS412B PLUS and 1 Mini Guitar Stand GS401BB. Generally I keep most of them in cases or gig bags. I usually don’t have more than two out, an acoustic guitar and an acoustic bass.
This old Florida Cracker house has zero climate control, An air conditioner in the living room and bed room for the sweltering summers and a wood stove and fire place for the cold, Yeah it’s North Florida but when it get down to the teens the humidity is still near 100%, the cases and bags help keep the humidity shifts and temperatures shifts less radical.

Yes, I was about to buy one when My son-in-law made me the wooden one. Hercules multi stands are nice!

I’m impressed with all their stands, though I use a funky folding Fender stand when I’m working. It fits in my gig bag. I have it all down to one trip.
