Local shop has a B15S that is in "slightly road-worn" shape, with a low-ish price, but I might take a flyer on it and fix it up. My first bass amp was an SB12 fliptop that I traded back in 1983 for a bigger Gibson. Still regret it!!! I didn't check what speaker was in it, that might make a difference. I'm already familiar with Fliptops.net so I can get new latches (it's missing 2!), and maybe wheels! I would probably not haul it to gigs (probably!??), it will just stay at home! In Google searching I saw a picture of someone using a 6-inch cable to insert into 2 outputs, in addition to a regular cable...why do that?

I used to play one that belonged to a friend in my younger days. Great amp.

Went by on Saturday, store was having extended Black Friday sale. 15% off pretty much everything in store. Didn't realize the amp head wasn't attached to the lid! It was just sitting on top of the handle? Flipped it over, one of the rubber screw holders was perished (but sitting inside the amp!), and one of the existing latches came off in my hand! However all the other attachment screws were there. A quick trip to fliptops.net, parts are available, so that is ok. Hadn't checked the speaker...Period correct JBL D140F!!! When I first looked at it it was behind another amp, I missed that it had the wheelie cart! So wheedle it over to where I can plug it in. Sounded great, aside from scratchy knobs! Channels 1 & 2, normal and bright, all OK! I'm playing, sales dude comes around and sees I'm playing a $1200 Schecter, says "nice choice"...then sees I have the Ampeg going and says "Oh! No wonder it sounded so good!" Decide to buy it and get 15% off, but a sign said "50% off all used amps - except tube and other high end amps"... so I see what I can do.. The assistant manager knew me, so he looked up how much they were in for... Tag said $499, which is a bargain anyways, he says "We'll take $350 plus tax." SUPER SOLD! Will put it all back together correctly once I get the parts and take it to the KCANOStubes guy for a once over/bias check (if this one needs that, not even sure!) I CAN lift it all at once but it is a BEAR!! But totally worth it!
