Just been wondering about the need for a backup amp.
I needed a repair om my amp a couple of yeasr ago but fortunately in fell in a period between playing shows.
So do you have a bass amp of similiar size to your main gigging amp in case something goes wrong ?
What is the relative size in comparison to your main amp ?

5 heads, 3 cabs, 3 combos. The heads and cabs are all worthy of most any gig. The combos work for smaller stuff. The only time I bring spares is the rock/pop band. I bring an extra head (a small, light Genz Benz). No extra cab. I do bring a DI Box and a Sansamp Bass Driver that I can patch into the PA in case of a speaker cab failure.

There was only a few times I owned backup bass amps. While playing fulltime I experienced maybe half a dozen times I had either an amp or speaker failure during a gig. It seemed typical that this only occurred when I was playing an hour or more from home. Fortunately we had usually had nearby connections and I was able to borrow something for the night, the "something' often was a tuck-n-roll Kustom. . My problems went away when I started using modern solid state amps.

When I was gigging with a tube head, I always had a comparably powered solid state head as a backup. It's probably less of a concern now, but I'm a creature of habit. Now I have 2 of the same model class D amps, so weight, space, and dialing in if a swap is needed aren't concerns. I also replaced my old 4x10 with 2 2x10s; primarily due to weight, but also to avoid an all or nothing situation.

I have a backup head only. My main head is a GK 500MB, and the backup is a Markbass NanoMark 300.

I used to use a Genz Benz Streamliner 900 . 900 watts , Class D , but after falling in love with some Bergantino cabs I decided to buy a Bergantino head as well . The Forte is just 700 watts . It has quite a different approach than the GB . The Benz has a three tube preamp , and has a nice warm dark thing you can dial up , the Forte is simple clean transparent power . I have to say that Bergantino respond to their customers , I was wondering if the Forte had a high pass filter , and was told indeed it does ! Set to 40hz . So there’s not much point in buying that Broughton high pass filter I was thinking of … I also heard that the designer of the Streamliner still serviced his creations despite the company no longer existing , so I sent it off to Andy Field and it’s like a brand new amp . The GB also a built in high pass filter . It’s amazing to have contact with the designers of your amps ! I don’t generally bring it with me as a back up , but if anything ever went south with the Forte it’s my first backup . I also have a couple of GK heads that would do in a pinch . One , a tiny little MB200 gets daily use as a practise amp . There’s two older GKs I should probably sell . Someday I would love to pick up a Monique in a birdcage , by Jule !

I don't have 'backups' I just have "more bass amps than I need". My main combo for the longest time was a G-K 800RB into an Ashdown Mini 15". Also had a rack-mounted wireless and Korg tuner in that rig. When the NEO cabs came out, I got a G-K MB210 combo and used that for gigs. Nice to carry amp in one hand, bass in another and a backpack for cables! After I had my cancer surgery I needed a lighter amp! Got a G-K MB800 and a Trace Elliott Elf 1x10 Speaker. Teeny and light! I'm recovered enough from the surgery that for my next gig I will bring the old 800RB and bigger speaker and see how it rumbles! I do have a direct box in my bag in case something goes kasplooey during a gig. (And check my other thread for the Ampeg B15S I just bought!!)
