Many years ago I had a long distance girlfriend in Barcelona, one of my favourite cities. I still use some of the cookery tips I picked up. You'll either love this or hate it, but I just had to make it today: two slices of home made bread, drizzled with olive oil and covered with sliced tomatoes and fresh anchovies. "Pan amb tomaquet"

I am! But I've never had fresh, where do you get them? I'm told they don't taste like the canned variety. In fact, many years ago, a good, proper, and Pius lady at church found out I was going to go to Spain, never went, and she said "you have to try the fresh anchovies, they are orgasmic". I was both shocked and intrigued.

We get fresh(ish) anchovies from our (UK) supermarket. They are filleted, in sealed plastic trays, so not quite fresh off the boat, but they are much better than canned. The taste is similar, but sweeter, and the texture is softer.

I've got a client in Barcelona. Absent covid restrictions, we're planning to visit this summer.

Hope you get there Jimmy; if you do, go to Boadas and have a chickentail for me.
