It snowed all day. There's about 8" here, which is a lot for this area. I know this sort of stuff doesn't close schools in Wyoming, but around here most folks freak out a bit when there's more than a few inches.

just a couple inches here, my bandmates that live down the Jersey shore claim they got 12" but since everyone over exaggerates they probably got 8-9

Just happened to notice the wipers in the "upright" position. Good planning. I would not have thought of that.

I can't think of any other time anywhere in history that people were stranded in their cars for over 24 hours. Maybe I'm wrong but this just seems like another one of those things that makes me scratch my head.

I was snow-stranded for 4 hours on I-15 in central Utah about ten years ago and that was ordeal enough for me.

The news said that Atlantic Coty, less than two hours south of here, got 13 inches. We got zero.

I can't think of any other time anywhere in history that people were stranded in their cars for over 24 hours. Maybe I'm wrong but this just seems like another one of those things that makes me scratch my head. I-95 north near Stafford VA (just south of DC) got pummelled. People were warned to stay off the roads, but you know how mob mentality and the need for instant gratification these days works. Conditions like this can quickly turn from an expected 15-minute trip to a true struggle for survival. People ran out of gas, sitting in their cars. The conditions quickly overwhelmed plowing efforts. It was coming down so heavy for a short time near me that visibility was near zero. On I-95, trucks and cars spun out and everything came to a grinding halt. Traffic was so heavy that there was no way to get through to clear the roads and free the stuck vehicles. When the gubmint tells me to stay off the roads, I stay off the roads so the plows can do their thing. The problem is there are many people that think these advisories are simply aimed at controlling peoples' movements for nefarious purposes. Morons.

Our oldest was born in January. Just a few days before Christmas we got almost 2 feet overnight. I didn't actually panic but was pretty sure it would happen when we were snowed in. It didn't. Such a good child. Played a club in Alliance Nebraska where we unloaded in the alley and couldn't move till we loaded back up Sunday night. No traction without the weight. I don't really remember how much they had but...more than thigh deep. Trudge yo the hotel, trudge to the club. Glamorous.

We moved there in the summer of '93. So that was our introduction to KY winters. Lost some trees in the back yard, no power for almost 3 days, just a vented gas log fireplace to try and stay warm, but all the heat seemed to be going right up the chimney. Fun times!

We had an ice event this morning. Multiple accidents along the route, including an overturned car with the driver laying face down in the roadway in obvious pain.
Was 20 minutes late dropping my daughter and her friend off for school. I was worried because they are very strict on attendance, so I intended to call the school when I got to the office. But in between, the school texted all parents (which I had forgotten they could even do because it had only happened once before) to say that they are aware and nobody will be penalized for being late.
I take that to mean “stop calling us”.

We're supposedly getting between 3" & 8" tomorrow in abt 8 hours. New Years day it was abt 70 degrees with thunderstorms and tornadoes. This is strange weather even for KY.

This IS the reason I bought a Generac system! I have a 21K kohler that I've not had to use often but when I have had to it's been worth every cent. The week before Christmas a storm came through and took our service pole and everything on it down. The utility worked all day to get every thing back but we were warm and comfortable in twenties temps.
