Reading a US Naval history book, it occurred to me that even though I've been a lot of places, I've never been to the Southern Hemisphere.
I came close a couple times, and hope to visit Antarctica one day (seriously) but so far I've always stayed in the Northern hemisphere.
You?

More than a few times. Last time was Feb 2018 when we traveled to Kenya to massage some giraffes and get smooched by warthogs and trampled by wildebeestissez.
Crossing the equator is really no different than walking from the living room to the kitchen. It's just a lot farther.
Edited to correct the plural form of wildebeest.

I went from California to Australia (and back). Looking at maps it seems like I crossed equator... did I?

Flying to Peru but I don’t think that counts as a proper shellback ceremony.

Yes, until recently we flew from LAX to French Polynesia every summer. Love Moorea.

Yes. I was once involved in a three-week tour of diamond mining operations in South Africa, Botswana, and Nambia. I was living in Yellowknife, NWT, at the time (one mountain range the east of Roly in Whitehorse, Yukon) and it was February. It was an excellent time to get out of town.

Nope, closest I think I got was like Wake Island or the Philippines.

I crossed when I was on R&R from Vietnam to Sydney, Australia, May 1968. Although I’m a lifelong stargazer, I don’t remember looking at any southern constellations. ( I did however see the Southern Cross, the Jewel Box, and Coal Sack from Hawaii.)

Four times, two there and back trips Once to europe and once to California.
Was surprised that there weren't as many stars in the sky as we see down here
Hope to do it again.

Back in my 20's three of my friends and I flew from the US to Rio de Janeiro for a winter vacation. It was an interesting trip.................
When we landed in Rio International Airport the first thing I did was go to the men's room and flush a toilet just to see if the water swirls "clockwise" ...and it did!
My high school science teacher was right!

There's a place in Equator where you can stand right on the equator with each leg in separate hemispheres. BTW,I'm pretty sure the flushing thing has been debunked, I really wished they had two toilets set up back to back to demonstrate this but I suppose people being people.....

More times than I can count. For over 23 years I was a USAF C-141 pilot and we flew all over the world.

Too many times to count. Between the Navy and my career, I've been to 36 countries around the world.

I was reading a book on the Samuel B Roberts's first trip across the equator, and the description of the Pollywog/Shellback ceremony. Crazy stuff!

Pollywog/Shellback ceremony. Crazy stuff! Kissing the Royal Baby's belly was the grossest part. It was even grosser than crawling thru the rotten garbage chute.

( I did however see the Southern Cross, the Jewel Box, and Coal Sack from Hawaii.) I looked up a little bit. It was really interesting to see constellations visible in the northern hemisphere standing on their heads. Or it least it looked that way to us. We had a few (*ahem*) drinks over.

Quite a few times, including this morning. Not surprising as a Brazilian living in the US. :-)
I did find it interesting that a few of the prior stories involved Rio, like mine.

I’ve been to Lake Charles Louisiana.
As I understand it that’s not quite far enough south. 😜
