feel your pain. I love a real bagel; hard and crisp outside and soft inside with lox, cream cheese and onions. Have not had that in a long time. When I lived in NYC it was a staple of my diet. Oh the good old days...... Not sick but my taste buds seem to have diminished also.

Manhattan Bagel here in NJ (its a chain) does a pretty good version of this. Much cheaper than buying all the ingredients yourself and having extra that might go to waste. Love this sammie but 2-3 days in a row of it not so much. When the mood strikes I go get one at the store.
Losing the ability to taste would wreck me. Eating is one of my hobbies I thoroughly enjoy I feel for ya...hopefully your ability to taste returns soon

I've noticed a lack of sensitivity to salt post covid. Everything else is there and I like salt....rats.

2 weeks later I get a diminished sense of smell and taste and by morning it's mostly gone again. By my 2nd cup of coffee I start getting a little back. I bought my wife a bottle Coco Chanel for Xmas, we were both kinda laughing (grimly) about it the other day after she sprayed it on and we got nothing.

Losing taste is an aspect of covid that really scares me. Apparently for some it last a really long time and may be permanant. I love to cook, brew beer, etc and taste is obviously a huge part of that. I'm a bit of a supertaster and I'm the one that always picks up on flavors that others miss.

I love to cook, brew beer, etc and taste is obviously a huge part of that. Yep, I hear ya. I'm a little encouraged by the slight return of taste and smell although it can be elusive, like the harder you try the worse it becomes. I bought a 4 pack of Rodenbach Grand Cru beer the other day. I like a lot of Belgians but have never tried Grand Cru. My initial reaction was that I was drinking carbonated balsamic vinegar, and almost gave up. I powered through and by the end of the first bottle I kinda started to "get it". Probably not a favorite even under normal circumstances, but perhaps contributing to some sensory rehab. Such a bizarre thing. I've lost taste and smell before with other illnesses, but usually only for a couple days. The lack of smell/taste this time around has a different angle to it. Like I know it's coffee I'm drinking. I can sense the acidity, the sweetness (I'm not a black coffee drinker),but it's like the brain erases the rest.
