It warms up to -30C and it feels balmy. Been a tough sold snap, lost the cast pipe drain on the kitchen sink on the rental side.....Roly cuts hole in wall and figures out how to cut out the cast pipe and get PVC to mate with the cast.....I'm NOT here for the weather.

I probably wouldn't even get out of bed if it was -30C...

We've only had actual temps of -30 a couple times in my lifetime here. Wind chill gets there a lot though.
I'll take actuals of -30 over -15 with wind all day long. We end up with a lot of very cold, very windy weather here in Iowa. Those are the days where I just want to get the fireplace going, pour a couple fingers of bourbon and put on a movie.

At that temp you might test the old "boiling water turns ice" before hitting the ground routine.

-26°F here right now. (-36° F with windchill) I’ll plug the truck in this morning for a few hours just in case. 🥶

I remember those days when I was in the northeast.
I have a hard time convincing my neighbors in the southwest that the body can get used to cold temperatures very fast. The daytime high goes down into the 60sF here and people are throwing on winter coats, giant hoodies and breaking out the space heaters. I try telling them that after a cold snap in New England, upper 20sF was t-shirt and shorts weather!

In October it was in the 50's and he was at a bus stop shivering. He was wearing a parka with the hood up and gloves! I wonder what it was like for him when winter really arrived....

Don't even think of moving here, but it'll be 74 where I live today.

I rolled out of Santa Fe this morning. It was the coldest 22 degrees I've ever felt.
Something about the high desert. Everything is extreme.

Don't even think of moving here, but it'll be 74 where I live today. I don't see myself ever leaving Iowa. I might bitch about the cold at times (or the heat/humidity in the summer), but I love 4 seasons, nice people and freedom.

update we hit 81 degree day yesterday. BUT my warning stand do not move here. We all look crazy and some of us are, but we already filled our quota of nut cases for the next 10 years.
