Thursday afternoon, while watching TV, I noticed the Echo gizmo on top of my bass amp flashing. Alexa informed me that an Amazon delivery had arrived. I dutifully went to the door: no package. I checked the doorsteps on each side of my house. Nope. So when I went online (found another confirmation of the delivery) and I was asked to rate the delivery, I gave it a thumbs down. One of the explanatory options was "Never Received It". I chose that one The answer that came back was that sometimes deliveries get accidentally scanned, even though no delivery had occurred. That was a new one on me.
Delving a bit deeper into the delivery itself, I noted that there was no picture of the package on my doorstep and the comment said, "left in a safe place." Kinda generic, eh? Amazon recommended waiting until Tuesday before escalating my non-delivery complaint. Well, whadda ya know? It arrived yesterday. With photo and description of deposit location online.
Amazon hinted that this delivery / nondelivery error is not that uncommon. Well, it was uncommon to me! Anyone else had this particular hiccup occur?

I have been notified that a package was delivered on a number of occasions when it hadn't. Each time it said it had been left on my front porch. Every time it arrived the next business day.
I had USPS a package that the tracking said was "Out for delivery" last week. It had snowed the night before so we had no mail delivery and I didn't get the package. I thought the mail was delivered, no matter what but, well, okay. I looked at USPS.com and it said the package had been held at the post office due to "Customer request." Nuh uhhh! I did no such thing. I went to the PO the next day to pick it up and they wouldn't let me have it. Something about the package being organized for delivery and they weren't going to mess with that. HUH?? It arrived 3 days later.

This has happened to me several times. sometimes it's a scan mistake, sometimes the package is delivered to a neighbor. Of course then there are no pictures of delivery. That also seems inconsistent. All things considered though AMAZON does a good job with delivering packages.

i love that service... i live in the boonies and sometimes i'm out on the farm somewhere and don't see the driver... if it's a valuable package i'll go back to the house and take care of it. i've never had anything stolen but there's always the first. i think it'll be a matter of time. i'm kinda P.O.'d... we had 10" of snow on the ground and i live in the boonies so i wasn't really expecting deliveries of any sort... even USPS. i hadn't planned to clear the drive since it was going to be in the 40's saturday and sunday. since i wasn't going anywhere i decided to let mother nature do the job. the mailbox is at the end of the drive, about 1/10th of mile from the house... and i looked up the drive and see a large package leaning against the mailbox. WHAT!!! !!! The FedEx driver had left it there, right on the highway for ANYONE to stop and grab! and around here, they would have! if i hadn't seen it first. it wasn't all that valuable of a package... but it's mine and a loss is a loss. i detest, no ABHOR!!! FedEx!!! the driver has NO respect for my property. had cut thru the yard leaving ruts! i had the drive shouldered and in several places where he cut across he destroyed the shoulder and threw gravel all over. not a big deal to repair, but it took time and effort.

I've never had a problem with Amazon UK. When they started employing their own drivers a few years back, the website showed how far away your delivery was on a gps map and I noticed my house was shown in the wrong place. I sent a message to customer services, they called me and corrected the map while we were talking.
On the other hand, I've lost count of the times other couriers have said a package couldn't be delivered, when I was at home waiting, and sent me a picture of someone else's house. We live in the wilds, so there are no house numbers outside of the villages, only names, but it's surely not too much of a problem.
