I'm about halfway into the 1st episode and I'm digging it. I'm hick enough that I had to put on close captioning.
I remember Mike saying that these were hometown boys and I just happened across it. So far so good.

Yup, possibly the most famous Staten Islanders in the past 25 years.
The show is very well done, and I don’t think you have to be into their music or rap music at all (I’m not) to enjoy it.
I get the added bonus of looking for Staten Island landmarks, and there’s quite a few shown.

Looking for landmarks is pretty cool. I live in a small town north of Pittsburgh and nothing happens here. But every few years a major movie will come into town to film our bridge, go figure. But people flock to the movie theater just to see it.

I never binged a show but I watched all 2 seasons in 28 hours. I just couldn't stop.
I like old country, gospel, and classic rock. Now I'm going to go down the rabbit hole starting with Wiki.

I watched the first season in a day. The second season I watched weekly as it came out. I preferred binging it.
Both Method Man and Raekwon were regular customers of the Foot Locker store I worked in during my first year of law school. One day I sold Mr. Meth an all black Yankees hat and black Air Force One sneakers, which he wore to the MTV Awards that night.
My band also had the occasion to jam with them once. They were filming a video in the soundstage at the studio where we had our rehearsal space. We left the door unlocked (as we always did) and Method Man, Raekwon, Rza, Ghostface, and one other guy I don’t remember walked right on in as we were playing. They liked our music and we motioned them toward the mic and they each took a turn rapping over us playing the music from one of our original songs.
Wish it was the cell phone age and there was audio/video proof.
They did not smoke in our room but the entire building reeked of weed.

That's pretty cool Mike. I hope a few more of us check it out, well worth the time.

That's pretty cool Mike. I hope a few more of us check it out, well worth the time. I suspect many in our group heard the word “rap” (or said Wu Tang? Never heard of them.) and will not watch, but I still contend it’s worth watching and enjoyable even if you don’t like the music.

It was really a cool experience. Also a testament to how “small town” Staten Island really is (comparatively speaking, of course) where you can run into your sneaker salesman playing with his band while you shoot your rap video. I had zero business running into anyone from Wu Tang, and I did it in two completely different settings.

I like the story it's perfect just like that.

I'm disappointed! The commercials shown during the 2nd episode said new episodes on Wednesday. I haven't seen any.

I'm younger than most here (just shy of 41), so I grew up being exposed to hip hop. I wasn't into it at the time, since I was a grunge head in the 90s, but I have grown to enjoy it. The Wu crew may be crass but rap has its own language. The Wu Tang doc has been on my list for a while now, so I need to check it out. P.S. - I saw this study mentioned in a Rolling Stone article some years back. The author compared the lyrics from a bunch of rappers to Shakespeare and Melville to see who had the bigger vocabulary. pudding.cool/2017/02/vocabulary/index.html

They touch on their unusual lyrics a bit in the series.
