Why did no one tell me about the annual Hobbyhorse Championship, held each year in Finland? The Fins are deadly serious about their stick horse competition, and the teen female participants trotting, prancing, galloping and leaping barriers are testament to that fact. Saddle up and behold!

The tails are a nice touch. Just how are they attached exactly?

I'm glad that's one hobby my grandparents didn't bring with them when they came off the boat. One of the silliest things I ever seen.

Years ago, I was a classroom assistant in an elementary school. I also ran the before and after school program. When I took the kids to the gym, I could keep the girls busy all day playing "aquarium dolphin show". I would put down mats and hold out a hula hoop and the girls would jump through the hoop head first and do a somersault. Then they would come back for a "fish" (I would just pretend to throw them a fish treat). They loved it and would beg to play. Hobbyhorse is basically the same concept! LOL All while keeping a keen eye on the boys playing dodgeball.

I would bet that many of the retired ponies end up in vending machines in Japan.

ESPN 8, "The Ocho", has really gone downhill.

Not that far removed from actual hunter-jumper competition using real horses. The only difference I can see is there's no poo to scoop up.
