My son will turn 52 this year, and while he's had medical issues all his own, some of them were delivered as my genetic gift to him. He'll call occasionally: "Hey Dad, did you ever have ............... And more often than not I'm able to give him a hearty "you're welcome!" i.postimg.cc/Nj2T24gb/zits.jpg

I hope my kids don't have detached retinas, like I had. One in each eye, about a year apart. Same thing happened to one of my brothers.
Probably, I should be more concerned that they don't have a heart attack or lymphoma like I had.
But I did survive them, so there's that!

I have a hip anomaly that resulted in a hip replacement at age 50. I'm really hoping my kids didn't inherit that. Hip pain really sucks and, while the replacement was a huge improvement, I've never been the same since.

Every ailment my daughter gets she says she gets from me. Then gives me the "Thanks dad!".

No biological kids here, just adopted. I developed degenerative disc disease at 30. Both my brothers have bum backs, as do several of their kids, also in their early 30's. Going to see my pain management specialist in a few hours, in fact. Yeah, I think genetics factors in.

I got the junkies bum rush too. Once on a shoulder. Really offensive lady doc. I go in with a job and insurance and an injury and do not presentas a junkie. I have never been back to that clinic. Another time I had finger crushed at work. Dr sewed it up and gave me an RX for tramadol. When I said I can't take tramadol (I get wildly jittery, shaky which is not uncommon) she said "Don't fill it". This particular doc did not even bother with an xray, which shocked the hand specialist I went to the next week. Hey, what do they call the Dr who struggles in medical school and barely gets through, graduating at the bottom of the class? Doctor just like the rest of them. There are some really poor Dr's out there. Buyer beware.

When my mother was almost 50 she spent a week in the hospital with diverticulitis.
I’ve had two bouts with it myself. Hospitalized even. I inherited her digestive tract.

Full disclosure to potential buyers: I'm selling my hips and back as "open box"...

Hey, what do they call the Dr who struggles in medical school and barely gets through, graduating at the bottom of the class? Doctor just like the rest of them. There are some really poor Dr's out there. Buyer beware. i started on tramadol (ultram) many years ago. i asked the Dr if it was addictive and was told no. i took it twice a day at least for several years. i had a 3 month supply prescription for the duration. it kinda worked, knocked the edge off the pain but didn't dope me up... i liked it. SUDDENLY one refill i noticed the bottle was lighter and looked... it was way short than usual. i inquired and was told it was a CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE now. thanks for telling me!
i talked to the DR and was told that NOW it's considered addictive. i found out that it really was. the Dr didn't give me problems with the prescription but the pharmacy did. i got tired of fighting it and slowly weaned myself off it. i was surprised later that when i tried taking it during a nasty flare up it made me really ill... sick at my stomach, motion sickness. i tried some hydrocodone with the same problem. i don't know what i'll do if i really have pain sometime.

It's the heart issues and diabetes that have been passed on down through the generations in my family that scare me the most for children and grandchildren. My Dad and his Dad also had serious respiratory problems that took them early but they were both heavy smokers at one time and neither I or my kids have taken up that habit so maybe we'll be safe from that one.

I am just glad I have never had a brain tumor. My dad had surgery for a benign brain tumor at age 57, it came back, he had another surgery at age 72, and died from it 4 years later. My mother's older brother died of a brain tumor at age 30. So I have brain tumors on both sides of the family. Thankfully, I have not had a brain tumor.
I did have non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, but after 6 months of chemo I was pronounced all clear. I had two years of bi-monthly Rituxan infusions to make sure it didn't come back and have been all clear since then. I hope my kids and their kids don't develop that.
