Last year I snagged a G&L Tribute Blueboy. As usual, it's a great instrument at the price point. I did do a fret level on it to take up up a notch. The thing that hooked me was the neck humbucker.
So that led me to build one... which I just finished.
Man-o-man I love these!
Of particular note is that rich woolly tone of the neck humbucker hooked up to a 250k volume pot. Actually, for the build I went with a CTS 300k which ohms out at 270K. So on the hot side of 250k. Don't ask me if it made a difference. I have no idea. It just seemed like the thing to do.
The bridge pickup is a Quarter Pound and the neck is a Jazz with the coil split via a push/pull tone pot.
Any other fans of this config?

I've reconfigured my thinline with a hotter A3 bridge pickup and a minibucker in the neck. But the mini is just too hot. I also used a 300k pot which read somewhere in 280k range and the mini sounds kinda dark too. I got it as low as I can get it and the bridge pup up as high. Think I'll put the Kent Armstrong Stealth 90 back in, see how it plays with the A3 pup. Really the last combo worked great; the KA Stealth 90 in the neck and a GFS Lil Puncher in the bridge, 500k pots. I hate having to compromise with pot values, but I've not yet found a Tele single coil bridge pup that sounds good with anything other than 250k pots.

The Jazz neck bucker is on the dark side, but that’s part of that charm.
I also chose the Jazz neck because it is relatively low output for a HB. I think is was the perfect choice.
I went with the Quarter Pound bridge pickup for the extra RAWK. And it balanced well with the Jazz.

Nice work, Eric! It's a beauty and I like the nekkid look with no pickguard.
I'm really diggin' my ASAT Classic. No regrets whatsoever.

I haven’t spent a lot of money on pickguards in the last year. 😂
