I'll wait until I hear it from Tom -- there has been speculation all week and I'm guessing this is just more.
But I'm pretty sure he won't be with the Bucs next season. Let's see what kind of a deal he can make with a different team that has the talent for another Superbowl run.

isnt he still under contract for another year? Yes -- hence the "retirement" rumor. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Yeah but he couldn’t retire and then come back next season with a different team like you said, could he? I can’t imagine he’s allowed to circumvent his contract like that.

This is how sports talk radio makes their money in the off season. Let's say Robert Kraft agrees to buy out Tom's contract with TB and Tom comes back to the Pats for a final year. The Pat's have an offense that Brady could win with -- the defense is the problem. Kraft sidelines Belichick and Matt Patricia is named head coach and defensive coordinator. Kraft throws a boatload of money at buying a couple young DBs -- you get the idea.
Could happen.

Much better to hear it from the man himself, instead of "sources". He's still playing well, he might be looking to find another team. Maybe Pittsburgh, I hear they've got an opening.

If that was possible, any player could break any contract at any time, as long as the new team wanted to pay. I don’t think it works that way for that reason. Not to say it’s impossible, but TB would either have to release him or trade his rights, I would think.

That's probably Tampa's best option, if it comes down to "trade me or I'll retire."

If that was possible, any player could break any contract at any time, I was just giving an example of what discussions will be like on sports talk radio when the season is over.

Brady has a lot of leverage here, because it's a particularly bad year for QB draft prospects. Next year's draft looks to be a much, much better draft for QBs.
If Brady retires now, Tampa Bay gets nothing for him, in a year with no hot new prospects. If they trade him, they could definitely get something for him, perhaps even a high-ish draft pick in the 2023 draft to get a long term replacement.
I'll bet NSR is right and he ends up somewhere else next year, playing football and not shuffleboard.

"In a tweet sent hours after his initial statement, Brady mentioned the team that drafted him.
“Thank you Patriots Nation,” he wrote. “I’m beyond grateful. Love you all.”"
