Agin I have been thinking about the overall sound my equipment makes when playing out.
How many players just use the bridge pickup ?
Any comments on the type of sound you get ?

No 7enders these days, but, yes I do use just the bridge pickup on their own on my other basses depending on the tone I am seeking.

Depends on the sound I want.
On the Bass VI, which has three pickups, I use all three and combinations thereof!

My #1 is a PJ. The P is always on. Some amount of the J gets blended in at times.

My main bass is an older Lakland 55-94 with the Bartolini pickups. With a preamp, dip-switches, fade control and coil select there is a lot more involved with tone settings, but I do run with the fader a tic towards the neck pickup and the coil select towards the neck setting.

I find it works well if you want to be more melodic on softer/slower songs.

Most of the time I run both pickups . Although sometimes on the Bass VI I solo the bridge , and hit the choke switch . I have a number of other basses with dual pickups but as I’m generally looking for a deep rich old school thump with top end definition I tend to run both .

I usually mix the two on my Jazz base. I don't care for the sound of the bridge pickup by it's self but a lot of people do. Also, I prefer a mix of some point over just the neck but the neck by it's self sounds better than the bridge by itself.

I love the JB bridge pu for it's dry attack and 'fast' percussive qualities.

Yes. There's quite a range of tones available in mixing the front pickup (more bass) and the bridge pickup (more twang). Varying the relative levels of each offers a wide range of tones. Don't think I ever use the back one by itself.

I do not use the Bridge pickup by itself. My favorite combination is Neck (Full) and Bridge (3/4 full).
