Been a long journey... with much tried. ( posted on it before ... but still felt it needed something)
The subject: A 1969 Bassman head: Fender making a Bass amp that appealed to non bass guitarist ... I get it. I like how how punchy the stock amp was... and when you turn it above 3.5 it starts to growl and roar like a Marshall Plexi (I should say Marshall's roar like a Bassman...obviously cause that is what came first)
But... stock... (For me) it was overpowering in the lower end dept. (duh.. its a bass amp) so I started on a trial and error journey to find the right tone stacks for my tastes
Installed a 5F6 tone stack in the Bass Channel. (Mallory 0.22 uf caps w/ 250pf ) Then I tweaked the AB165 tone stack on the normal channel (removed the 1meg on the bright and went w .047uf used also a 250pf.. used all Sozo in the norm channel) Dedicated separate 10k mid pots to each channel, mounted those in the back and used the 3way ground switch for a 3 way Neg feedback switch (Ab165/ 5f6/ AA865)
Voiced for a guitar.. both channels.
Currently playing through a 2x12 cab w/Eminence Texas Heats.
This amp is done.. signing my name and dating it (in symbolism only)
Time to enjoy it.

It's very satisfying to tune one's amp to one's tastes. Congratulations on finishing the job. I'll bet it sounds great.

PS. I was attracted to this thread imagining someone's project completely uh...Picassoized. In your case, the amp knobs would be on the bottom and sides and they would look melted, the speakers would be inside and out and partially folded and a little melted, the cabinet would be slanted and partially folded and a little melted, and the sides and top would be reoriented in random directions, looking a little melted, plus a lot of segments would be colored red, blue, black, and white ! You know, like a Picasso painting... Maybe that's why you didn't post a picture ? I suggest Picasso wasn't that useful as a standard. Unless it really was...

I'm a dumb farmer wanna-be, I couldn't think of another piece of art that people thought as perfection. lol I didn't even think what Picasso was famous for... lol
