I can’t find the one I previously had, could be in a case I don’t recall using recently. I guess most players that use them, use it on the left hand if using just the one. I use it on the right hand. I keep the fingernails on the right hand a bit longer than the left for fingerpicking the guitar, the glove protects the nails and provides a more consistent attack. Other wise I’m playing the note with the finger tip occasionally hitting the string with the nail occasionally, breaking a nail from time to time. I have noticed that using the glove also reduces my hand pain. I need to order a few more. First time I saw them I thought it was a bit goofy.

That guy who does "Scott's bass lessons" on YouTube swears by them (on the fretting hand). I've never tried one. Is there something "purpose-made"?

Yeah, the one I did have was made specifically for musicians and provides a light positive pressure, a support that helps with tendon and muscle pain.
In Scotts case it calms down his hand spasms. He talks about them in a video he’s Posted.

I never knew anyone who used a glove on the fingering hand except for playing outside in cold weather or for thumb tendinitis or sprain. I've worn fingerless gloves or fingerless compression gloves occasionally in the above circumstances.

I have used them on both hands in cold weather and they do help. I've been tempted to use them in hot, humid weather as they reduce the problem trying to play with sticky fingers, but I'd look like a poser.

I like the consistent feel of the fingers sliding off the strings. I think a good case can be made for using them. I think most of the bassist using them, use them on the fretting hand. My right hand has some tendon issues, the radial head is fused at the elbow causing zero rotation of the wrist plus the bicep and shoulder muscle of the right arm are paralyzed. I can lift my arm, but when I lift the right arm I’m using fore arm muscle and tendons and I can feel tendon discomfort in the right hand, so I’m trying to reduce that stress, the glove helped. Now that I’m considering joining a working band I’ll utilize the right hand glove. I’ve been mostly working on my finger picking style on the acoustic guitar since cova and the band collapsing after the death of Brownie, our lead singer and mandolin player.

I’ve played a couple outside Super Bowl parties at Lambeau Field over the years where my cords would freeze into the ice and I’d jump in my vehicle on breaks to warm the feet in front of the heater blower. I used these fingerless mitts for those gigs and they worked great. That’s the only gloves I’ve ever needed. When you’re not playing you just flip the mitten portion back over your fingers.

I have something similar in black for the Philly New Years Day Mummers Parade. There are no banjo bonfires to warm our hands during the parade.

He is the only one I have ever seen using a glove to play. I also have never used them but if I had a problem with tendonitus I would try that. Also like laker's fingerless glove for playing out in the cold is a nice option.

I have had a sweating condition that crops up almost daily that kills my strings when it happens. I started using a musician's glove three or so years ago. It handles the problem well, especially in summer. My strings (I like bright and clangy) last a year or more now, without losing clarity or zing. I really don't care what people think. The glove is a tool that works well for me.

I'm going to have to try these as my arthritis has been a problem lately. Don't know whether gloves will help with that, but I guess it's worth a shot.

I saw Martin Mull at the Roxy play a "Polish" blues wearing work gloves. Funny guy.

I use them when it's cold or extreme high summer humidity. I'm tempted to use them full time for quickness. Also, keeps strings and neck clean while playing.
I got 'em off Amazon...Musicians Practice Gloves. Your frets better be perfect, cuz sharp edges will wear holes in 'em.
