A new just book came out by an Irish luthier Gerry Hayes of Haze guitars. I got my copy earlier this week. It's a very cool book, great explanations of a ton of stuff and lots of full wiring diagrams for reference too. I honestly think this is the reference book we wish we always had. It's currently discounted on US and Canada Amazon.

Yep, I ordered this book also. Thank you, what a great find! This will be a great benefit to myself and others for when I work on their guitars. It'll be nice to have a good reference for and be able to expect more exacting responses from the setup process. Schweet...

Interesting.
Everyone who ordered it - report back? The reviews seem to indicate this is one of the good books. Guitar books are 99% coffee table books, and occasionally a few amazing ones that have a real impact on the industry. Bob Benedetto's book is the first that comes to mind, as well as the Cumpiano (sp?) book, and of course Somogyi's book. I don't think a book full of things you can just google would be worth $30, but if it is one of the good ones, I'll be curious what is in it that makes it so good.

I’m tiring of internet searches. I’m looking for books.

I started the thread after I received the book. The explanations are clear and free of wrong science or mistaken internet myth. The information is laid out and organized clearly and cleanly. The wiring diagrams are excellent. It's nicely written, not too dry, enough sense of humor to keep it light. It's a nice book to sit and read.
There is nothing in a Dan Erlewine book that I don't already know and can't find online either but I still reach for it and recommend that too.

The lack of strange pseudo-science is itself a good thing, as well as weird internet engineer smugness (another thing I used to run into a lot, where the "smart" guys would dismiss things musicians have known to be true, even if their explanations sucked).
I'll probably pick it up at some point.
How is it with math? The area I have to grow the most is in the math - like, I tried using inductor coils as auxillary hum cancellors/boosts/whatever, and I failed miserably because I didn't have the math to help.
I received the book a couple of days ago and am happy with how the book not only shows you wiring diagrams but also all the components used with the guitars that are being displayed. It is a very straightforward display of the wiring routes and is well designed with explanations of and on the components used. So if you are wondering what, how and where the manufacturer used on a lot of the guitars being displayed, you have only but to look up the guitar you want to rewire and what parts were used, the author lays it all out for you. I have only briefly thumbed through the book but extremely impressed with how articulate it is displayed, along with the components and pictures to copy that setup. I'm completely impressed with how it was done and it is so nice and much easier to recreate an instruments wiring. I have not read enough to determine if the author suggests any changes to a particular guitar wiring or pickup changes, but he is very exacting in showing you all the details. It is a great reference book and one that I am highly appreciative of Dr. Kev for offering his discovery. Thank you so much! Woody
