I was listening to Ticket to Ride today and, for some reason, the tambourine seemed to standout and catch my attention. I'd never really paid attention to it that closely. I noted for the first verse, it seemed to have a prominent push from the beat and almost sounded like a mistake, or it was played poorly. Then on the chorus, it double-timed, and then fell into time on the offbeat for the second verse.
I tried to imagine the song without the tambourine and couldn't. It would sound empty. It got me to thinking of other songs with tambourines. Which ones come to mind?

If memory serves, Sky Saxon was once arrested for tambourine abuse:

The visuals are emotionally scarring in equal measure, IMHO.
And...though I'm usually not the kinda guy who would kick somebody who's already down...sometimes I just can't resist:
(there's somebody in the tepee playing a tambourine...honest!)

The tambourine is just an excuse for me to post this performance. What a band!

The Seeds on whatever that TV show was - back when bands playing their hit song in your living room was a thing.
Tommy Seebach - The first time I saw that, I thought it was going to be some kind of cheesy porn.
Now, back to tambourines.

All over the place on Motown songs.... too lazy to think of any specifics, though.

I always thought the tambourine in this song was pretty sloppy.

Tambourines are like the Dude's rug. The pull the room together. Seriously. If an arrangement sounds empty or loose, try a tambourine first.

Jimi had a right-handed tambourine, but he played it lefty, Lefty: I think the opening sound is a vibraslap, then the tambourine comes in?
