5 is plenty for me. I prefer 4, but one of my bands has a few songs that make the fiver worthwhile.
I don't even know how you keep up with that many strings.

I’m a five string player, but have always wanted to try ten and fifteen strings (doubled and tripled fives.) My fingers are too short for this one!

I like my 5 string bass but mainly play my 4 string basses. To me the 5'r opens more possibilitys when playing but 4's just feels at home.

I’ve been a five string player for around thirty-five years now so the old Fender basses I started with have been sitting in a closet since. I’m not a “schooled” bassist (originally a sax player) so I probably developed a few bad habits with my playing technique and find the five string an aid to speed and my approach to playing bass.

I found fives to be rather fun but not so useful that I wanted to sell all my fours. I did try a six for a while but never cared too much for it. I used a Bass VI in the early "70s but that would be considered more of a baritone. I actually had to run a bass booster with it to reclaim a decent bass sound.

Bought and sold a few fivers. Even restrung a 4 string to BEAD... sold it too. Too bad, I should kept it and string it back normal, but I would've had to change the nut back too. Guess I'm a 4 string guy.

Played a 5 string for a year or two. I felt like it was making my playing lazy. Their are enough notes on the 4 string to keep me fresh along with plenty of notes for improvisation. The five string is only adding 5 extra notes.

Fives just suit me better. The occasional low C's or D's are fun in the right circumstances, but it's far easier to transpose with singers who prefer 'other' keys or horns, and I like playing across the fingerboard better than up and down the fingerboard. As far as those crazy axes in the pictures, I sure hope he has a string endorsement !

I’m a relic . I prefer four strings and like ‘em thumpy . But I’m slowly changing and adapting , I’ve got fresh roundwound strings on several now .
