Cant find out what pickups were stock in this first reissue version of the red strat. Any clues or what modern pickups would get close. His original is supposed to be a 62.......maybe......

I thought it was so weird that he moved from that Strat. Happens to a lot of players. I guess searching for the next sound, but that one was good.

Pretty sure they were Texas Specials. Back when I was warehouse tech for a big music store we had a small showroom attached to the warehouse and the Knopfler strat was on the wall there. One of the most playable strats I've ever touched.

The first run on 2004 were the Texas Specials.

Thanks guys. I read Texas Specials but doubted it as they are supposeadly overwound and I thought he would have preferred a lower output set. Ive got a set of Hot Noiseless in a strat now that arent doing much for me and Im thinking about switching them out to a set of single coil of some sort. Looking for a real clean tone.

The Fat ‘50s might suit your desires. I’ve got a set in a partscaster and the clean tones are unparalleled.

I will investigate the Fats ! There seems to be a neverending selection and neverending sales blather to go along. Listening to demos thru a 1/2 inch kindle speaker doesnt tell you much. Just want traditional cleaan tones. Ive got other axes for other tones.

I’m not a huge Strat afficianado. And yes… there are a metric ton of Strat pickup options. I don’t profess to know them all.
