We (here in NorCal) got heavy rain most of last night and were glad to have it. With a multi-year drought spawning wildfire conditions, a late-season soaking is just what the doctor ordered. We're still way below "normal" though.

Isn't it recommended that you stay in your car in events like that? After seeing a few big rigs slamming into vehicles, I wonder.

I'd look for an opportunity to scramble well off the road. I've seen cars look like they've been through a junkyard compactor after getting wedged between two semis.

The guy that was walking around his car when another crashed into it was beyond lucky.
In a situation like that I’d be out of my car and into the woods a little ways.

When trucks burn, it’s often down to the frame rails.
That’s the #1 reason why I would be out of my car and in the woods in this situation.

Lots of people driving too fast for conditions. Yeah, I saw that too. Slippery and crappy visibility and they look like they're doing 60....

Interestingly enough, I am less than 2 hours from there, and we didn't see weather anything like that. It was cold, but no precip of note. My brother in law, an EMT, often talks about the inability of Pennsylvania highway drivers to handle unexpected snow. He's way out further west in PA, though.

The guy with the Charger who was videoing…
Not a good car for those conditions.

The guy with the Charger who was videoing… Not a good car for those conditions. I represent a client whose vehicle was hit by a Charger, driving too fast on a wet road and he lost control, causing a head on collision. Thankfully for everyone, the injuries were not life threatening.

Man, I'd get my ass about 50 yards off that road and be thankful it was only my Charger and not my body that got trashed.

We were in a snow squall on Sunday in the Maryland mountains. We were going thru a mountain pass in the left lane when a huge gust of wind came out of nowhere. It suddenly moved my car 3-4 feet to the left until my left wheels were in the gravel on the berm. Luckily, I didn't panic and road it out until I was back on the road.
Afterward, I checked to make sure I didn't soil myself.
