The Will Smith episode apparently overshadowed the news of another incident at the Oscars show. Amy Schumer speaking from the stage, made a joke about Kirsten Dunst (Kirsten had pre-approved the joke)
Weeks after the janitors had finished cleaning up the theater, Ms Schumer continued to receive death threats about her joke. She didn't report them, but said she was contacted by the Secret Service about them. (LAPD as well).
I couldn't find any reference as to how the threats were transmitted but ... Secret Service? If they were electronic and crossing state lines, etc, I could see maybe the FBI getting involved, but the Secret Service?
This puzzled me, so I went to the Secret Service web page:
"We have an integrated mission of protection and financial investigations to ensure the safety and security of our protectees, key locations, and events of national significance."
I had no idea.
