This is a small cab I've been wanting to try; something little, portable, and capable of handling power while not sounding small. I built it using 3/4" pine with 4-ply for the baffle and the rear panel. It's a closed-back cab very similar in scale to a Marshall bottom cab. I'll probably do a grill cloth frame for it, but I wonder if it's even required. The perfect-looking seamless Tolex covering is actually spray-on pickup truck bed liner; a whole lot tougher than Tolex, easier to apply and get perfect, and dead-simple to repair. The speakers are 10 centimeters (4") in diameter with poly cones. The cabinet is just over 12" tall. I've had these speakers kicking around for a few years from the time I was modding Roland Microcube amps. I got them from MCM (MIC); they're midrange, 4-Ohm, and rated at 60 watts each, designed for car audio. Four 4" speakers have 52 square inches of cone, which is two inches more than a single 8" speaker. I have them wired in series/parallel, so the cab can handle just about any amp I plug into it. I'll be using this with my little Quilter MicroBlock 45 (amp-in-a-pedal) and FlyRig5. So far, I's happy with it. Here's a review of the MicroBlock 45 if you're unfamiliar with it:

Nice paintjob on those speakers Peegoo ! The whole project looks amazing. And the EQ on the Quilter sounds VERY useful. Did you compare to the 22 or 44 caliber ? Sounds like the Quilter is better. But, how much power does it suck up ? I went to car mini amps because they are 1)stereo and 2)can run on sufficiently robust DC 12v. And...my fav...they are cheaper ! But buttercup speakers...never saw those before. Almost have to have a buttercup guitar to match !

Matching guitar. How silly of me. I meant Buttercup colored Leisure suit. Of course.

Oh snap. I saw what you did there !
You slammed 4 pseudo microcubes together(minus amp).
Ha.

Yeah yeah yeah It does have that KRK Rokit Speakers look, doesn't it? They probably use the same company's speakers in their over-priced stuff. Lots of people love these things and they sure look nice on the outside, but I've had a few of them apart to make repairs for friends; the components are bargain-basement and the soldering looks like it was done by a four-year-old.

It certainly doesn't sound like a 4x10.

Ah...the strangeness and complexities of sound I have witnessed!
While I don't have the output graphs on those speakers, if they are car speakers...
I suspect they will make a better PA than guitar cab.
Most car speakers start out as full spectrum but this usually leaves the highs and lows a bit on the short side.
However, if the speakers are viable enough, with enough EQ power, and amp power, miracles can happen.
Examples of a miracle would be the old "Henry the 8th" bass cabinet, which I heard(and felt) up close and personal.
It was a cab with eight 8 inch speakers...and it was full bass awesome.
Another is the little Cube Bass with 4 what ? 1.5 inch speakers ?
I haven't heard this personally but how in the heck could that really work ?
At least, that's what goes through my mind.
And then there is the apparently much loved Cube. I haven't heard that either.
I noted the 4 inch speaker and opted for the 5.25 in speaker in the Pignose instead.
And I could certainly use some more bass from the 5.25 !
So I skipped the Cube.
But here we have a Peegoo inspired cab full of buttercup car speakers to consider.
Not a Marshall half stack for sure.
But possibly a candidate for a PA or maybe even a light bass cab.
One thing the Henry the 8th had was a tweeter or two, and a hole or two that helped the lows, all to give it a wider range.
That small mini bass Cube wouldn't need a tweeter with 1.5 speakers but it probably has a hole or two.
I wonder what the buttercup cab would sound like with a nice round "bass cab like" hole in the front ?
Would it open up the sound for guitar ? Release the speakers to produce more bass ?
Or would the cab make a better Keyboard or PA afterwards ?
Or Acoustic cab ?
Add some acoustic stuffing inside ?
One wonders...
I suspect that one shouldn't look at it too long without strong sun glasses on.
Other than that, I got nothin.

Ok, should have checked before opening my mouth. It is reasonably priced Without a doubt that has to be a Class D output amp for it to run cool enough for and fit in a small box enclosure

Yeah, these little 'pedal amps' are incredible. Electroharmonix makes their own versions (22 Caliber and 44 Magnum, 22 and 44 watts respectively) and they are perfect if you get your sound from a pedalboard.

As simple and small as that little "Pedal amp" is, had I have known about it before hand I would have just ordered that and used it with my Fender Stereo Ultimate Chorus amp. Not that I don't like my Katana, but this is cheaper, easier to use to get the tone I love

That cab looks very slick, Peegoo. I'd be interested in your description of how it sounds.

It's a little underwhelming, actually.
Sounds perhaps like a 1x10 in a closed-back cab that's too small for the speaker. The tone is a bit too upper-mid-forward. If I had calculated the box volume using T-S numbers it would've sounded much better...but these are cheepo speakers and the maker has no T-S parameters published. So it's a guessing game.
While it is capable if getting really loud, it's too narrow sounding to really be useful. I may try porting the cab, but that would be guessing too.
