Since I purchased the Cordoba C9 Parlor earlier this year my steel string acoustics haven’t been getting any attention. I’ve also started using the older Kremona classical more and more.
I may let my steel string acoustics go, except for the Martin 0015, based on tone alone, this little double O sounds amazing. Plus the wider nut makes it a lot easier forming the chords.
I’ve been really hard on my hands my whole life and have seriously damaged both of them. Since I retired, I crushed my left hand in a motorcycle accident back around 2012. The doctor preformed two surgeries on that hand, the second after he learned I’m left handed and a musician. He didn’t hold out much hope in his prognosis. Apparently, Jesus does love me.
I still consider myself primarily a bassist but since I’m not playing in a group I’ve been playing a lot of guitar, I always have owned and played guitar. I can recall only playing guitar on stage once and it was solo, though the band was in the audience . It was a Catholic School Prom and I played Alice’s Restaurant while they served dinner. Probably not a high point in my musical career “o)
I know what the best strings are for the Cordoba, the manufacture makes sure of that, they are built for high tension, their are three levels of tension used for classicals. I don’t know what tension ratting the Kremona is. I have America Kremona trying to figure that out for me. My instrument was made in Bulgaria and purchased there by the original owner. Apparently my instrument is giving them some trouble trying to figure out exactly it’s specifications. The woman who sold me this guitar had her uncle select it for her as he built guitars at the Kremona factory, she was living in Romania at the time. So for now I’m using low tension strings on it. I’ve been reading how sensitive the classical guitar structure can be, some classical guitarist, with high end guitars, detune the instrument after playing.
I’ve had a Yamaha classical since the early 80s, lost it in Andrew.
