I remember people posting their backing track creations and others would add their stuff to the tracks, lead, bass, drums, horns ect. It was fun and interesting interacting with other musicians and hearing all the differing takes on the same track. Does this happen anymore? I know I'm reminiscing from the FDP times, but I really learned a lot of aspects of recording, mixing, and such from doing this. It would be interesting to know if there was any interest. Anyways, just thought I would throw it out there to see what happens. Hope to play some tunes with you all. Peace, strat62plyr

Howdy strat62plyr, welcome back to the remnants of the FDP. This particular sub forum seems to be where the crickets chirp the loudest, lol.
I personally never dove into the backing track thing except for one time. It's not that I'm dismissive of the process just that I always seem to have half baked projects lined up and often lack the inspiration to fire up the DAW. It did seem to increase the traffic back at the old place so maybe others can hop on board. There seems to be an abundance of quality backing tracks on YouTube that folks post. Could be a starting point, anyway.

I'm not really a backing track user either but I probably should be. It would be very good for my rusty improvisational chops to play along with some backing tracks. I have never recorded one for myself or anyone else. Anytime I record something it is always for some kind of a project for an album or a song either for myself or someone else. Like Auf, I have projects I should be working on at present that are not getting done for one reason or another. I have too many things requiring my attention that need to be done and it seems I seldom get around to recording even though my little studio is better than it has ever been.

I did it once. I would be up for trying again.

I would be as well. Not so much making the actual backing track. That would take me a whole lot longer than I can afford.
