Since Wednesday I’ve had what I thought were mild allergies or a cold, but I flew this past Sunday so I’ve been testing. A home rapid test Wednesday was negative, and yesterday since I started to develop a cough I ran over to CVS for a PCR test. When I got back home I ran a different rapid test (I have plenty on hand) and lo and behold - a strong positive. The PCR should be back today or tomorrow.
I’m fully vaxxed and double boostered, so I’m hoping this will be a nonevent. The self quarantining is the biggest impact.
Ugh.

In March I had what I thought were covid symptoms. Tested negative for covid but positive for influenza A...hit me like a ton of bricks. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Get well HD. My whole clan got it for Xmas. It wasn't pleasant but certainly not the worst illness I ever had. The funk we got mid February hit me pretty hard.

Thanks, all. The clinic confirmed the DX before the PCR came back based on the rapid test and sent me off with a script for Paxlovid and an inhaler. It’s a little worse, but still like a cold.

Power down water and Gatorade. Stay away from coffee and sugary drinks.

Hanging in there. The PCR came back positive as expected; some of the cold-like symptoms have abated somewhat but the fatigue and achiness has greatly increased. The Paxlovid is truly disgusting, it leaves a constant bitterness behind that is beyond taste. This is day six from the first symptoms and day three of the Paxlovid, so I’m expecting improvement from here on out.

I have a friend who had it recently. The fatigue was the worst part and lingered the longest.
Keep on keepin’ on!

All the best from the Mojave HD. Queenie and I both tested positive in early February, so we understand the score. Disclaimer: Not medical advice here. I once (about 40 years ago) knew an Osteopathic Physician. His view on this sort of stuff, where one loads up with congestion, was to take expectorants and keep the junky bad stuff moving. Somehow through the years that has stuck with me and was all I did with COVID. Aspirin and Mucinex. Anyway, hope you get through it in good fashion.

When I had it, a fever was my main complaint. It's really something how differently the coof affects different people.

How are the taste buds and sense of smell? I lost mine for about 10 days. I think that freaked me out the most.

Also, I still get phantom smells occasionally. Last weekend, I smelled burnt matchsticks for no apparent reason.

… and here we go with round two. I tested clear twice after the antivirals, Friday and Monday. Fatigue and headaches never went completely away. Today I was sniffly, and tested. Strong positive. I did a second test, different brand. Strong positive.
I’ve been seeing reports of antiviral rebound, just my luck.

My wife was supposed to go DC next week for a work event. A number of the staff came down with it, event canceled. Their organization had another event last week in Cal., 100 attendees, all Vxd and double boosted. 10 so far came back positive.
My brother got it pretty bad last September. Just got it again.

Yeah, Paxlovid is a bit of a bummer.
I was counting on it for my upcoming venture into the enclosed, disease cesspool of "waiting areas" in a major clinic, just in case, and now it appears the standard treatment length of 5 days, or the dosage, isn't enough to do the job for some people.
Hopefully, availability and an updated regimen will happen soon !
