Yikes. I’m getting Blues Brothers 2000 vibes from this one.
“‘Spinal Tap 2’” will also feature real-life musicians in the film. No names have been revealed yet, but it will likely depend on the artists’ touring schedules.”

Hollywood is intellectually (and morally) bankrupt at this point. They are trying to scratch your nostalgia itch to get some quick cash...

It would be nice if it were all that. But yes… lightning in a bottle.

I agree, however Ghostbusters 2 was a good movie.

I anxiously await the announcement that there will be a "Fast and Furious XII"...

If Christopher Guest has any writing involvement, I suspect it will be as brilliant as his other films (Best In Show, A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration). And let's bring back Artie Fufkin!!

The Star Trek movies were quite good, for the most part. Not remakes, though.

There pretty much isn’t a Star Trek movie I haven’t liked.

So its going to be a summer of sequels:
Downton Abby: A New Era Top Gun: Maverick Jurassic World Dominion Lightyear Thor: Love and Thunder Minions: The Rise of Gru To name just a few. Ugh this is why we go to the beach during the summer months. Who wants to be sitting in a theatre watching Rocky 37?

Hopefully there will be a Weekend at Bernies 3: Ashes to Ashes.
I always thought it should have been a trilogy......fingers crossed.

I'm so bummed that there will be no further Rocky or Rambo sequels.
Well...at least...there probably won't be...

I learned long ago not to invest anything emotionally into the reboots. I love the originals in many of these cases and it is my money they're hoping to get. If they can make something decent I'll watch, but life is too short. Too many people worry about their favorite things getting "ruined", but that is just how it goes. If they haven't hit your favorite movie/show/franchise, they're coming for it.
It makes me appreciate the originals more. Speaking of lightning in a bottle... Ghostbusters! You make a screwball post-SNL/SCTV movie a la Meatballs, Stripes or Caddyshack, go crazy with some sci-fi/occult world building, get some ex-ILM special effects guys, get that screenplay air-tight, and you have the one of the most incredible things ever. No one ANYWHERE was saying "hey, you know what would make a good movie...?" Someone creative just had to come up with it and try it. You don't appreciate this until you realize someone THINKS they're being creative by just saying "what if it is women and the city is different?" I'd have rather seen those women try something equally absurd, just as out of left field as the original... not copying the original.
Or, Star Wars. It leaned very heavily on understanding VERY basic story telling mechanics, and filling in the blanks later with over the top world building. The first movie is nothing more than: "farm boy meets an old wizard and goes off to save a princess". The Disney movies couldn't pull off the basic story telling, and got lost. They couldn't see the forest through all the trees.

I'm wary of the "real-life musician" cameos. That risks bending the storytelling to suit the joke——to the detriment of both.
On the other hand, Kids in the Hall released a terrific reboot this week, so I'll stay in the optimist camp. Lots of talented people in that group.
