Yay or nay? I chanced upon his 'Trouble' cd at a garage sale. Heard his name for years, realized I'd likely never heard his music, so I bought it, gave it a listen, and ... before I opine I thought it would be interesting to hear what others think.

He's got a great voice. Why he never got as big as Taylor Swift seems strange to me.

I think you can hear a Steven Stills influence in his music.

Our first wedding dance was to "Let it be me."
Few years later went to a live Ray show with a couple friends north of Nashville. He was awesome but we were in LAWN seating dancing and got yelled at repeatedly by the middle-aged folks for... dancing in lawn seating at a show in Tennessee. Like dude, whatever. Buy better seats or get over yourself.. #chattanooga.

I want to like him. I really do. I hear the Stills and maybe even a little Nick Drake influence in there, but on some songs I hear Rod Stewart and maybe even a little (gasp) John Mayer-style singing which I find... challenging. I guess it just comes down to the song. Some I like, some... not so much. I do, however, recognize he is a true artist. His voice seems to come from somewhere deep down inside, and the songs are well-executed.
