And I don't mean that tiki bar drink! Looks like there is a tropical storm coming from the gulf across Florida in the next few days. Doesn't look like anything to worry about, but it did remind me to get out this weekend and fuel up my gas cans and run my generator a bit. I'd suggest anyone living in the South to do the annual check of their equipment and supplies.

Glad I text my brother in north Louisiana every few days and that I stay on good terms with him. He and his wife have graciously let us stay with them for a week or longer on two occasions. That's where we evacuated for both Katrina in 2005 and Ida in 2021.

Alex was a strange one. Started in the East Pacific as Agatha and made landfall in Mexico. Dissipated then picked up steam again in the gulf as re-named Alex. We in Hawaii keep a close watch for tropical cyclone development in the East Pacific. The last major hurricane we had was Iniki over 30 years ago and the experts say we’re way over due. Stay safe. Edited to add, besides the National Hurricane Center, I like to check in on windy.com. They’ve been pretty accurate so far. www.windy.com

I think I’m permanently gun shy of them ever since Andrew rolled down my street. One of the reasons I moved to north central FL. Invariably they are mostly down graded to a tropical storm by the time they roll through.

A friend just returned from a cruise from New Jersey to Halifax and back to NJ. Ship was scheduled to turn around and head to Bermuda. Arriving passengers were told that they would not be going to Bermuda but were heading to Halifax instead. Most were dressed for warm temps..sorry folks.
