To my 40th high school reunion? I have never been back for one. I have kept in touch with some old classmates over the years though.
It would be a 500 mile trip one way. I don't have any bad memories of high school, but I have always looked at as a closed chapter in my life.

That's how I looked at it as a closed chapter, never interested in reopening it. But if your interest is piqued you could use it as a means to do some sight seeing also.

Hated my last year of high school: couldn't wait for it to end. No desire to see any of those people and would pointedly prefer to avoid seeing several ever again. Would not have even attended the graduation ceremony except receiving the diploma was contingent upon doing so. I kept in touch with a couple guys for many years but eventually lost touch since we had little in common any more.
Have never gone to a single reunion. They finally stopped sending me the invitations about 9 or 10 years ago. Last one I got combined several graduating years since so many people from any given year had already died off.
So, my answer to your question would be, "negative". But I'm not you, so...

Considering current gas prices, I wouldn't touch a 500-mile drive for that. It may be that curiosity decides this one.
Gato is right though; I am not you either.

Yeah I was thinking about the price of gas. I think I will just give it a pass. I don't want to show anyone up since I still look the same.

Based on your never attending and your closing that chapter don't go.
High school reunions are for people that love attending and never miss one. It makes me sad when I hear someone say High school was the best time of their life. Really? Full disclosure I have stayed in touch with several classmates and have attended most of our reunions but I look at as a chance to catch up a group of old friends I don't see very often. I'm selective at who I spend time with when it comes time for a reunion.

I went to mine.
Encountered one classmate that showed up with locating me as one of his priorities.
I’ve been to three of them and don’t regret going.

Pretty sure my class thinks I’m dead. That’s how “away” I was over the years.

Tip...the cute girls in high school are disappointing, while the girls that were not pretty are very nice looking. One of my classmates turned up looking drop dead beautiful. When I asked her about what she had been doing she said she was a working actress and realed off a short list of block buster movies she worked. Who knew?

Pretty sure my class thinks I’m dead. There were a small group at mine (2015) that thought I was dead. I guess they heard of my "colon adventure" from 2009 and assumed the worst.

BHS, I presume? You should go, because you could go to Big Fred's while you are in town! And Bronco's!
(I just got home from a week there. Hadn't been back for 3 years. Hit all my favorite restaurants.)

I went to the 5 year. Hated it. Didn't get invited to the 10 year even though my parents live in the same house they lived in when I was in school. I got invited to subsequent reunions after joining our class facebook group but never attended. After one, there was discussion on facebook that I was at the venue during the the reunion, but just hung out at the bar, which wasn't true. I have no idea where that came from or who even cared enough to start the rumor. I responded, then got harassed to go to the next one, so I went. At this point it was the 30th....it was all the same popular people hanging out. Even with a name tag multiple people said they didn't remember me (class of 450). I left after about an hour because I had nobody to talk to. Apparently there's a huge group from our class that still keep in touch regularly and hang out together.
In general, there are a handful of people I'd be interested in seeing at a reunion....none of them were at the ones I went to.
We have the 40th this year. I will not go to this one or any future one. I wasn't popular in high school and, even though everyone says that doesn't matter after 30 years, it seems to for my class.
If you really liked high school and really care what the other kids in your class are up to...go. If it's only a couple people you care about, look them up individually.

I have never been to any of mine.
Our class had a 10th anniversary celebration in 1976, but I was busy at work and could not attend.
I have not heard of any since then.
When it had been 40 years, I went to my HS website and found the email address for one of the faculty members on the longshot that her husband was the president of our graduating class. In fact, he was. But there were no plans, but she wrote that since she had my email address she would let me know of plans had changed. There was no 40-year reunion.
I think the main reason I was interested was the fact there were mudslides on the west coast that year (2006). I figured if California was tumbling into the sea, it was time to go back to my old school.
There was no 50th reunion either. I would have certainly attended that one.

I never really had a connection to high school, especially my senior year when I was playing six nights a week with a nightclub group, but there was a small group of friends that I went through part of grade school with that it is fun to touch base with.
At my 50th and 55th reunions we had the same band playing so they had me sit in for a few tunes at each reunion. At the 50th I think the boys in the band were pretty surprised when this “old dude” sat in with them and he actually knew what he was doing.
If we have a 60th (it would be in two years) I’ll definitely go if I’m still alive. Over 1/3 of the 540 members of my class have passed away at this point.

My X and I went the the same HS... her a year behind me. We went to her 20th which was fine with me as my best friend from HS was in her class.
It was OK, but I don't feel the urge to go back for mine. My class would have had its 40th in 2019. Math tells me our 45th is in 2024.
The big thing we noticed is that the gathering seemed to segregate into two group: those that stayed in the area and all the rest of us. We'd talk to the "locals," but it just became awkward after anything more than cursory catch-up. Meanwhile the locals clumped together and talked about local stuff.
Lately there's been talk of a reunion of a bunch of us who were stationed together in the UK in the '80s. I dunno. Not so keen on it. Maybe I'm not much of a "reminisce" sort of guy.

I wasn’t popular ar in HS and didn’t go to a reunion until our 45th. I had a blast! I talked to as many classmates as I could, many of whom I didn’t know in school. One thing stood out. There was no sort of “clique-ishness” (is that a word?) going on. Everyone seemed to just enjoy being there.

When I received my release from HS and moved on to college, I put that in the rear view mirror. Once out of college, I left the state only to return for 2 funerals, one wedding and to help my folks move to FL.
I had no anchor there, and as a child my folks always said given a different path they would have left years ago.
So I declined to participate in the 40th, and ignore the mail that seems to follow me at each move.

I've never been to any of mine. I have stayed in touch with a group of guys I played football and hockey with. We get together once or twice a year -- almost always for the Superbowl. It's always hilarious. That's enough for me.

The dissolution of the cliques concept that people always say is what made me go...but for my school it's the same 'ol same 'ol (with some of the locals vs everyone else mentioned above).
Apparently the "in crowd" from my high school were really tight and all kept in touch.
Zero chance I'll to to another after my experiences that were well past the point where that stuff was supposed to be a non-issue.

When I'm faced with a dilemma such as this..... I always ask myself the million dollar question " Is there a high probability of getting some?"
