Trying to decide if I want to get a set of Mackie original SRM450's on sale locally for not much money. Or should I upgrade and try to get some used JBL EON 612's/712's? Band setup is simple, guitar, bass, vocals, drums. We only mic the bass drum. OR should I seek out something new in the Behringer/Harbinger/Rockville range? In my other band, the leader just bought a pair of Rockville 15's, and he likes them, but they're new, so no reliability record to go on.
My band will only gig out once a month and these wouldn't be used for practice, as we're renting a space that has equipment because no one has a house that can support practice. Maximum money I'm willing to spend is between $350-$400 for each speaker, and we only need two...

I used Mackie 450s for maybe five years with a wedding band, about 30 gigs a year plus regular rehearsals; they were very good and never let us down. We put everything through them, via a Mackie mixer: three drum mics, bass, keys, guitar and four vocal mics, though we added a powered subwoofer.

I bought a pair of JBL EON 615s 2 years ago. They do fine for our moderately loud rock band. We've gotten many compliments on our sound. The deciding factor for me was the multiple handles on each. SO EASY to move. I know they're budget but I love them.

When I was looking at new powered speakers in 2019, the Harbinger stuff seemed decent for the price, especially what I think was called the V series, but I was replacing passive speakers that sounded better IMO and decided to move up the price scale a bit. My expectation was that would mean JBL Eons, but I ended up with EV ZLX 15s. Got a pretty good sale price as I recall. My memory is that the JBLs sounded more neutral, which is probably a good thing, but I liked the EVs. Unfortunately, I can't say anything about durability because I moved to another state in early 2020, COVID happened, and I still haven't found the right band here.

A trip to my local music store netted me 2 JBL EON615's for $299 each. They were having a sale and were marked originally at $500. One was still in the box, the other was a demo! Super happy! The sale had been going since June 1st, surprised they were not scooped up in the interim!

I have one 1st generation JBL left after having sold a few others for way more than they were worth (the buyer set the price) I've been looking for a pair of 615's or the new 715's but cheapest has been $800 used. I'll keep looking....
