My Jazz parts bass is sufficient for what I do but I'm curious if any of you have experience with this bass. An old bandmate had (has?) one and regarded it pretty highly among his impressive collection. My only complaint about my J is the narrow neck.

They appear to be nice bang for the buck. I built my P Bass, but had I not, one of these would have been my choice.

I have one. I have no complaints at all. I bought new a few years ago. I would put the quality of construction up there with the Mexican or Japanese Fenders. I did put a SD Quarter Pounder in it fairly quickly. I probably didn't give the original pup much of a chance.

I meant to say the neck on my CV reminds me of a baseball bat. I love it. This is my only bass and I don't need another.

I have always heard good things about Squier's Classic Vibe line. However, I don't have any personal experience.

I believe the pickups in Classic Vibe models are Duncan Designed--Seymour Duncan's import line. I played one at the local music store a few times--it seemed pretty good. It wasn't a heavy bass.
I have a 1983 MIJ Squier Precision with a sen ash sunburst body. Great craftmanship. The neck profile is a lot like a 1962 Precision. Traded a MIM Fender Jazz Bass for it. Like a lot of older decent quality stuff they have gone up in value over the last decade.

I had a lot of opportunities to pick up other basses for bargain prices , and I didn’t . I thought I had all the bass I’d need . I was an idiot . Some of those basses I passed on now have legendary collectable status . I could have picked them up when they were called “old” and “used” … today they’re “vintage” .

If they sport Duncan Desogned pickups, there’s no knock in that department.
While I’ll not tried their bass pickups, I have had guitars with DD pickups. On several occasions I’ve compared those guitars’ tones with the tones of the real deal pickups on the SD website. I found hard if not impossible to tell the difference.
