I have two Lowrance Hook Reveal fish finders on my boat. I have a Reveal 7 Triple Shot and a 5 single shot. I mostly use the 7 for offshore fishing. I have it set up with a 3 way split screen with side scan, down scan and charts (I have offshore fishing holes marked on the charts for lakes I fish). The 5 SS is used for shallow fishing. I keep it set on down scan. Anyway. I returned to the boat ramp from fishing this past weekend to find that the transducer on the 7 broke at the mounting bracket and was hanging by the cord which is hard wired to the transducer. I didn’t hit anything so I can only guess that it finally succumbed to the rigors of the vibrations from skipping across the water at 30 mph. It’s a poor design, IMO, because the mounting bracket and transducer are one piece (plastic of course). Anyway, I attempted to epoxy it back together, but that failed so ended up having to order a new transducer at a cost of $182.00 shipped. The fish finder cost $700 new, although they’re on sale at Bass Pro for $600 right now. I thought about upgrading to the 9 HDS, but even on sale they’re $900 . Plus, I would’ve had to spend another $50-$100 on a new mounting bracket to be able to install the display on the console so I ended up just ponying up the $182 for a new transducer. My point? I’m feeling Ike Lowrance, like so many companies, aren’t really interested in designing solid products, but rather make a product with a definitive life cycle in hopes of up-selling you when something breaks. The really deflating aspect is I now have to postpone my purchase of the new Paul Stanley Signature Chest Wig for a couple of weeks whilst I replenish my mad money stash.

Well, at least they were fast getting it to me. Ordered it Thursday, got it this morning. Put it on the boat a couple of hours ago and all set for fishing tomorrow.

Just hitting a little patch of floating weed or grass can break the plastic bracket. Re: Paul Stanley... KISS was busted for lip-syncing at a recent show. Milli Vanilli alert!

I’ve seen a few YouTube videos that bust Paul clearly lip synching. No shame in Gene & Paul’s game. Lol
