Had to swap out one lounge chair for another at a different location. This meant wrestling the chairs through doorways and up / down stairs, before loading one and then the other into a VW bus for the drive there and back again. Even five years ago, this would have been merely unpleasant. At 75 years and with 90+ degree heat it was agony. I am officially adding "furniture moving / delivery to my list of Jobs From Hell. Some of the others are:
Carpet installer Roofing worker Landscaper Road repair: asphalt spreader Car washer / detailer Telemarketer Door-to-door sales

I feel your pain. I think I'm doing OK so far at remaining sensible and stoical about the growing list of things I can no longer physically do or, more accurately maybe, think it would be stupid to try.
Ladders feature quite strongly in my list, though I'm part-way through redecorating our landings and stairwell, which will require both ladders and walking on planks at some point. I also need to cut back some Ivy on an outside wall and am thinking of removing it altogether or reducing the height it's allowed to get to. I think my days of roofing are definitely over, though I once had a job building oil rigs in a dry dock and loved working at those heights.

My wife has banned me from using ladders, since the day I was home alone and decided to check via the attic for a roof leak .... and fell through the ceiling.

Used to move stuff to make money while in college.
One of my (least) favorite memories is of a slate-topped pool table...

do anyone else submit messages that don't appear? i'll try this again...
i can relate to your pain... i've always been a big guy that was drafted into doing the heavy lifting. no problems, i had the muscle... now, 30 years later, i'm paying for it. shoulders and back are worn out.
my wife bought new furniture for the living room and tv room... one of MY priorities was the store would deliver, set the furniture where she wanted AND carry off the old.
i can do that stuff, but then i pay for it with pain for several days afterwards. it isn't worth it to me...

I think the board has been glitching lately. You’re not the only one to say something.
