My 50th was on Sunday. Is this when I have to get an onion on my belt and start shouting at clouds?

It's not necessarily, strictly a matter of chronological age.
You've doubtless already noticed that as your man boobs have sagged, your beltline has risen.
When the two meet, you're there.
Having a mensroom locator app on your phone is an indicator that you're getting close.

Happy belated birthday. If you thought that last decade went fast, hold on to your suspenders.
As to the question posed, I could say "whenever you let it", but the reality is when you've accumulated enough of it's indignities. Now go buy yourself a new guitar.

get ready for the next 20+ years...among other things, you'll find yourself checking to make sure your fly is zipped, that your socks match, that your shirt is right side out...the list keeps getting longer...
oh and happy birthday!

Retirement, among other things, means admitting to yourself that you're old.
So at the age of 50, I'd say you're not quite at the doorstep of Geezerdom just yet.

About that shirt thing.... what if you just don't care. Is that a problem.... Asking for a friend.

Retirement, among other things, means admitting to yourself that you're old. So at the age of 50, I'd say you're not quite at the doorstep of Geezerdom just yet. When you meet up with the "old gang" at your favorite restaurant, and the topic turns to blood tests, home BP cuffs, canes (wood vs aluminum), hearing aids, eyebrow combs, pace makers, eyeglasses, and when you most recently wore a hospital gown with your backside exposed ..... Used to be you'd brag about how many push ups you could do. Now you brag about how many trips to the bathroom you make after you turn in.

Retirement for my wife was more about, “I’m just done here.”
Her new job (grandma) has longer hours and harder “work.”

Fresh from the pharmacy. If you know what this is then you may just be a geezer.

A very perplexing question! In my case, I will be turning 70 in November; I can only give you my perspective on this particular subject.
If you are shopping for anything mechanical, and your final decision depends on what type of "wheels" the machine comes with; you have definitely reached a level of "Geezerdom". Which level, I'm not sure. (Food for thought) Good Luck!

I did some yardwork for a couple of hours after work and then jumped on the motorcycle for a couple of hours of wind therapy. At 62, no geezerdom here yet.

Today I turned 69. I went out and hit a bucket of balls at the driving range this morning. I tried some new things with my swing, but I was spraying them more than usual. For the last 20 balls or so, I went back to my old swing and hit them all straight and long (for me anyway). I've never been a good golfer, but I walked away from the driving range more confident than I've ever been.
I still enjoy fishing, golfing, riding my ebike, using my Bullworker a few times per week, and I'm usually in no pain unless I do something stupid. So, while I think I'm certainly into geezerdom, it's not as bad as I thought it would be, so far!
At 50, I know I didn't consider myself a geezer.

I'm starting to feel my age and I'm younger than you, but mostly because of knee issues which are holding me back from being active. I kinda feel like a bowl of jello these days but once I get these issues fixed I'll be back to my activities including my daily 3 mile walk.

I think your knee issues would keep anyone from being active. Sorry again about what you're going through with the ligament! Mine isn't bothering me any more, so it felt good to get out and hit some golf balls again; that was the first time in awhile. You've still got a long way to go, IIRC. Wishing you some knee healing mojo!!

I remember reading about Yogi Berra. When he was 37 he said he didn't recover from injuries as quickly as he once did. Being more than 2 decades younger than Yogi, I then considered 37 to be "old."
I am just now realizing I am old. I can't see under low light conditions, my peripheral vision is shrinking, and I don't walk as fast as I used to. Remember that song "Walk Like an Egyptian"? Well, I used to walk like a New Yorker.
But then yesterday afternoon, I took my acoustic guitar out to a senior living center and led music at an afternoon worship service. Except for doing songs that mostly had appeared in a 1956 hymnal, I felt like the young guitar slingin' worship leader at our church.

Nothing like hanging around a senior center to make you feel young again! And playing music also! Thanks for the b'day wish!

...and I'm usually in no pain unless I do something stupid. Two days ago, I slipped and fell down some concrete stairs at a jobsite. I was stupid for not considering that the stairs were wet. lol! I was pretty soar initially but I bounced back quickly and felt fine by last night. It pays to stay in shape at our age.

My 50th was on Sunday. Is this when I have to get an onion on my belt and start shouting at clouds? I celebrated my 50th birthday with my wife while running the Phil Peterson Key West Poker run on our Harley (round trip that’s about 5000 miles from home and back). Since that birthday, on our Harleys, we’ve toured all 48 contiguous states (several have been multiple times), 7 Canadian Provinces (including a trip to visit Jon965 in Newfoundland), and a short trip into Mexico. In those 25 years we’ve run that Key West Poker Run 10 times (our bike has only been trailered once when a tire blew around Gainesville, FL). I’ll hit 76 yo this year and we’re planning another Harley ride to Niagara Falls. In other words…you’re only as old as you convince yourself you are.

Health/pain/mental vitality
That, to me, is the trifecta of geezerdom.
I’m struggling with the pain part. Yes, that’s health-related, but I’m managing the rest of my health pretty well.

Sometimes geezerdom is chosen for you. As in the age limit that was put on my job that brought on my retirement at 60. I could have done at least another five as I told them but, they weren't having any of it. However, having been given the opportunity to retire turned into a good thing after a while but, I didn't consider myself a geezer for it. That happens when you become invisible to the rest of the world around you, IMO. In that, I've reached that age. Speaking of age, I too recognize those of you in the Bday zone so, Happy! I, myself, don't celebrate getting older 'cause...it makes me feel like...a geezer.

When you tell long stories about someone to someone that doesn't know that person... you are old
When you walk around with your mouth open..you are old
When you wear clothes that are 10 years old.. you are old

I think regardless of what one thinks of themselves, it's how others perceive you that counts. One day I was at a home center picking up some lumber and the normally hide if I can employees instead ran to give me a hand. Yep, I's a geezer. I didn't mind since my doc said to not pick up heavy items after I had back surgery couple years back.
