"A compelling new study from researchers at the Weizmann Institute of Science suggests we tend to make friends with people who smell the same as us. Across a series of experiments the researchers found volunteers interacted more positively with strangers who shared similar body odor qualities. To collect body odor the participants were told to avoid all perfumes and scents while sleeping in a cotton T-shirt for two nights. Using both an electronic nose system and a cohort of human volunteers, the researchers then tested how similar the odors were between the “click” friends and random pairs of people. "This is not to say that we act like goats or shrews – humans likely rely on other, far more dominant cues in their social decision-making,” said Sobel. “Nevertheless, our study's results do suggest that our nose plays a bigger role than previously thought in our choice of friends." newatlas.com/science/body-odor-smell-friends-similarity-study/?utm_source=New+Atlas+Subscribers&utm_campaign=8124b0f682-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2022_06_28_01_48&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_65b67362bd-8124b0f682-91221261I'm thinking that if you plan to start sniffing out new friends, you might want to be selective about the venue. For instance, women already have enough to worry about on the subway; they might misunderstand your perfectly innocent snuffling around them, even if you try to put them at ease by whispering, "Will you be my friend,"?

Once I had a supervisor come in to my office to complain about a worker who had a distinct body odor. I pulled him aside to delicately mention to him that he might want to shower daily and wear deodorant. He said he did so I really couldn’t do much more. Yeah, he had an odor but I personally didn’t find it offensive. Funny thing is, the complainant was a smoker. 🤷🏽♂️

Updating my Tinder profile -- Looking for a hot babe who likes long walks on the beach, reading, guitars, beer, jazz -- and smells like bacon.
Can't miss.
