How do I paste a YouTube link that is only the link itself, and not a screen shot/working video.

Click reply.
At the top you will see many small icons, the video looks like a clapper board. Click on it and then paste the link. It will do the heavy lifting from there.

The "link" is what I needed. (I didn't want to fill up three screens of actual video stills.) I'm going to post an annoying request tomorrow sometime.... going to bed now. Thanks.

So, I was watching the movie "The Martian" a week or two ago, and David Bowie's "Starman" came on. I hadn't heard this song in a long while and was almost startled by how good it sounded (to me). The song begins with two softly sung, falsetto lines: I cannot for the life of me understand what he's singing. I searched the internet for lyrics; nearly all just pretend these lines don't exist. Then I searched YouTube for Starman with Lyrics; I wrote down at seven or eight different lyric lines. I tried listening to different versions (studio, live), even slowing the playback of these down; my hearing must be shot. Or David was just screwing around with his audiences, changing the words, etc. Maybe someone here knows for sure what these two lines are. Here's just the links to three Bowie performances and two covers. The lines begin in less than 10 seconds into the song, so there's not much time invested in listening. These three are good representative examples: David Bowie Starman (1972) official video
David Bowie - Starman (50th Anniversary Remaster)
David Bowie - Starman / Ziggy Stardust - Live 2000
STARMAN - David Bowie COVER by The Chip Shop Boys
Starman (David Bowie)- Acoustic Cover (+Tabs& Tutorial)
So, take a listen if you want, post your understanding of the lines.

It doesn't really sound like any lyrics to me - "Hey na na" (maybe a "la" in there). Not much help. I didn't want to fill up three screens of actual video stills Thanks for that - videos take a long time to load on my laptop. Did you just use the plain "post a link" thingy?

On the default screen (Quick Reply), I hit that “Reply” red box on the upper right and then the full-featured screen opens up; this where I am right now. The link icon is the first colorful icon in the second row, the first one—an Earth globe with a “letter” partially covering it. You get a dialog box asking for a Title (how you want to identify it) and under that a place to paste the URL — that box automatically fills in part of the address, so I delete that so I don’t end up with a defective link because of it having two “https//“ prefixes. It’s pretty easy; just have your YouTube pages open on adjacent tabs.

Sometimes artists make up words that have a vowel and consonant sounds that fit the music. John Lennon was famous for that.
