I received an email from Boss today announcing a free update to the Katana MkII software that includes a few added effects, most noticeably a Klone-ish OD. There's also a new blank-yellow-green-red EQ contour switch. I updated and played around with for awhile but didn't really save anything new to my settings. I'll have to dig deeper to see if I want to drastically change my presets. There are also new additions to the tone library but I haven't really checked that out yet. There are a few YT videos up on this upgrade.

Roland's normal process is one major update per device - there may be minor incrementals, but the "big feature set" is the last other than bug fixes (which are rare for the last big release).
It's about being able to use the last bit of memory etc they'd saved - like how on the GR-55 you ended up getting more available presets etc.
Katana Mk I is end of life, not that it's bad, but be aware that that update (from 2019) will also remove a few features if you're using the original firmware.
You can't use the "Sneaky amps" from the GT-100 any more after said update is my understanding.
There haven't been similar "take away X" from the Mk IIs, but the Mk I it was an unintended feature, sort of like how on the original Source Audio pedals you could use their editor and install whatever "effect" you wanted, basically turning one pedal into all of them - just one at a time.
