I've been enjoying my new bass and this morning I decided to get a couple minutes in before I left the house. Right before I turned the amp off I gave the G string a good pop and then "squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!'. It did not let up. I turned the amp off and when I turned it back on it continued to squeal. I guess I'll deal with it after I get home...
My amp is an Eden WT550 with an Eden 1x10 cab. It has not been serviced and could probably use a good once over. The volume pot is fairly scratchy. Could the squeal be as simple as the preamp tube gone horriby microphonic? Anything else I should check?

Try putting some distance / separation and damping between the amp and speaker cab. If that stops or significantly reduces the squeal, then a microphonic valve is the likely cause.

I turned it back on a few minutes ago and the amp is back to normal. I'll definitely add some damping between the head and cab to keep this from happening again.
