Taylor 150e 12 string. This thing is like brand new but needs a setup badly. Very high action but I think a truss rod adjustment will fix it. Kind of a crappy photo but I'm happy with the purchase. I got it with the case for $600. The guy I bought it from said it probably didn't have an hour of playing time on it since he got it new. From the looks of it I believe him. i.postimg.cc/x8cNfD4d/Taylor-150e-12-String.jpg

Nice, congrats!
I had it in my head that I didn't like Taylor guitars. Then I took a chance on one a couple months ago, an all-mahogany 526 Custom, and it has become my favorite guitar.
They certainly build them well. Impeccable.

Between adjusting the truss rod and maybe a neck angle change (easy to do on a Taylor with their shims) you’ll have that thing playing like butter in no time. Congrats!

I got the 12 string back from my tech today. WOWSA what a GREAT playing guitar. I wish all my acoustics had an action like that. he did a superb job setting it up and getting the neck right.

After playing this thing for a while I made the realization that it is a cannon. Very loud compared to what I'm used to. I am very happy with this purchase. It's a far better guitar than I anticipated. This is my first experience with a Taylor guitar. What a great voice it has.

And such a deal for a nice guitar. Enough of a good deal to allow buying a 12 string. I'm too cheap and use a Mosaic pedal. Which in a band is quite realistic.

Usually, when I get a hankerin' to play a 12-string, I would just go down to the local guitar shop and a play a couple for a while until the hankerin' went away. However, the nearest guitar shop to me these days is 100 miles away.
But there are two of these Taylor 150s for sale on CL not too far away from me. I'm really tempted.

I would highly recommend one of these if you want a reasonably priced 12 string acoustic. I'm not easily impressed but I am with this one. It's a lot more guitar than I thought it was going to be. The pickup system on it sounds very good for a pickup system. I'm spoiled. I've been recording acoustic guitars with Neumann microphones for over 30 years. There's not a pickup on the planet that sounds as good as that. Acoustic guitar pickups are strictly utilitarian for me. To me they are strictly for convenience to amplify the instrument in a live setting. Other than that I have no use for them. I would never buy, or not buy, an acoustic because of the pickup system.

I prefer to install my own pickups to acoustics. So many of them are hack jobs, plus I can make them less invasive to the instrument than many I’ve come across. I picked up a 1981 Guild B50 fretless. A previous owner had installed a sound hole pickup and drilled the 1/4” hole for the phone plug, just to the left of the lower bout strap button. I can plug the hole, with a piece of Mahogany, matching up the stain and age (oxidation) will be a challenge. At least the guy didn’t drill holes to screw down the pickup.
I used a K&K three transducer Pure Mini Acoustic guitar assembly, it included a larger transducer for this bass. I now know that the only differences in transducers, regardless of manufacturer, is the disk size. For what I paid for the K&K I could of purchased a lifetime supply of transducers. More recently I ordered 15, 35mm Piezo Disc Transducer pre wired for $6.00, to use on bass, I use smaller ones for Ukulele. For the cigar box 20” scale bass I use 2 transducers. I don’t wire in tone or volume. I prefer to control these functions with a EQ stomp box, or use wireless send/receive instrument plugs, that do offer some control at the instrument.
Year before last at the Alifia River Rendezvous I used the Ibanez ABG with the wireless transceiver, in my woven canoe basket I had the Phil Jones Double Four with a power supply. The only person that figure it out was the guy I was playing guitar with, and only because he saw a flash of a blue led. One of the requirements of Rendezvous is nothing after 1840 can be displayed. So if the ladies can wear modern bras etc, I can have a bloody bass amp, the officials aka dog soldiers let modern acoustic guitars, dreds pass, the argument could be made that they are not period correct.
The Alifia River Rendezvous takes place in January. Two weekend days are open to the public. Stop by and look me, my location/camp will be available at the gate house. I’ll give you the whole tour and introduce you to my friends. Visitors’ Days January 20-21, 2023 9am – 3pm.
