Yeah man, that’s sweet. A P with Jazz pickup. I’m not sure i’m familiar with that model. What’s the weight?

Yeah man, that’s sweet. A P with Jazz pickup. I’m not sure i’m familiar with that model. What’s the weight? Haven't got it home to weigh it yet, but the seller says it's 9.5 lbs. I played one at GC and this one feels similar... not real light, but not too heavy. This is the American Elite Precision. It's both active and passive. The neck is more like a Jazz than a P, 1.675" at the nut. I just loved the feel. Let's hope it plays as good as it looks. The one at GC sure did. I would've bought that one if the salesman wasn't such a dick. Oh well, his loss. Guess that's why he's working at Guitar Center.

9.5 isn’t too bad my P Special is a freakin anchor. I picked up a used Jaguar a couple months back with the P/J configuration. A cheap Squire off Craig’s List, it was a good deal, satisfies my need for a P/J.

That is a sweet looking bass. Is the color considered a tobacco burst? What is the color of the p/g?

Nice bass! Do I see a rotary wheel for truss rod adjustment? If so they are very nice. I had one on a Peavey Millennium Bass. It was smooth and easy!

Yes, the color is tobacco burst. Pickguard is an off-white. Not sure, but it may be a mint. All I know is that I'm normally not a big fan of white p/g but this looks good with the maple neck and burst finish. It does have the rotary wheel for truss adjustment. A big improvement in my opinion. My MusicMan has that and I love it. The only thing that I can criticize is the access to the 9v batteries(2 of 'em). Two straight slot screws? Really? It is a pain to get the door off after removing the screws. Why they didn't have easier access is beyond me. I guess I'm grasping at straws if that's the only thing I have to bitch about. This bass is a winner! My Sterling probably won't get much playtime now.

The only one I had that used a fliptop lid access to the batteries was a Peavy Millennium bass. I once had a Sterling. Quality and nice looking but it had too much growl for me. In retrospect maybe I should have kept it and used TI Jazz Flats to tame it a bit.

In retrospect maybe I should have kept it and used TI Jazz Flats to tame it a bit. The Sterling can be a bit aggressive. I did tame it somewhat by putting TI Flats on it. It still has some punch for sure, but has mellowed as the strings have mellowed. Waiting for the TI's to mellow on the Precision now. Sings nicely in passive mode, but very aggressive in active. I'm sure I can eq it to tame it, but the strings will need some playing time to really settle in. Btw, spoke w/Fender. The p/g is mint. I'm thinking I like it enough to not get a tort guard for it...for now. I do need to order a Bass XTender for it though. Seldom use it, but sometimes it is just what the doctor ordered.

I have a Fender Player P bass tidepool blue that came with an off white pickguard. Tried a Black one on it but went back to the off white which I am leaving. Also, where online did you buy your new bass? GC, Sweetwater or other? I have bought some sweet guitars/basses from Sweetwater. I bought my Player P I played from GC store. Love it. The only thing I wish is I have been able to buy the Ocean Turquoise (green??) with black pickguard but that is minor considering I got one fabulous bass.

I bought it used from a private individual on Talkbass. My first foray into buying a used guitar sight unseen, with no recourse if it was a turd. Fortunately all was good and the transaction went wonderfully. I'm liking it more each day. Almost bought an identical one in the local GC store, but the salesman tried to screw with me, so I went elsewhere. First bad experience that I've really had with them. I'll just chalk it up to experience and stay away from that guy next time I'm in there.
