Bought this in 2014. About the only original part of the bass is the Neck thru Body. When I bought it new it was dull flat looking finish. I spent a bit of time buffing it to a satin luster. I loved the feel and playability of this 5 string bass as it was/is the best feeling 5 string I have played. I did not like the tone however so I put Lace Alumitone bass bars and a Bartolini 4 band preamp in it. I was not wild about the smoky chrome hardware so I put chrome Gotoh tuners and a chrome bridge (which I could only find in the UK). Ok up to date. Several days ago I put a Audere Pro Z preamp with 3 position mid range selector and 3 position Pro Z impedance selector in it. Right now I have GHS Pressure wound strings on it. I chose this preamp for not only it's features but the fact it runs on a 9 volt battery with no noticeable difference in sound between it and 18 volt DC external power box I built to run 18 volts for more clean headroom with the Bartolini preamp I was using. They were correct this preamp was designed to run on 9vdc with virtually no difference.

Nice looking instrument, it looks heavy.
I think I lost an inch or so strapping on that ‘81” Fender P Special. I was still using my first bass up until the Fender.
My first bass, Christmas 1965, was the Framus Atlantic

My first bass, Christmas 1965, was the Framus Atlantic Surprisingly about same as my Fender P and Jazz. Body a little smaller than the Fenders so that helps. It probably contributed to loss of 1" in stature but all the titanium hardware in my back brought me back to my normal height

Most of my titanium is below the waist. Not the hips, yet, I’ve got a rod in my right femur. I had a bunch of rods and fixation devices in left arm. A few screws here and there.
I’m a mess, I never expected to live past my 20s. I’ll be 70 in February. I’m in better shape than most 50 year olds. I attribute a good part of that due to all the damage I’ve done to myself, I’ve been forced to assess what I can do and what I should probably avoid. I’ve gotten pretty good at listening to my inner voice, you know the one that tries to avoid the damage.
One of my spiritual goals was to stick around long enough that my parents wouldn’t have to bury me, I saw what it did to my Aunt and Uncle when Tim died in Vietnam. Now I know how actor’s can cry real tears on demand. That kind of pain never heals. I haven’t ever used it other that remembering my cousin, but I could. It’s pretty much always there, close to the surface.

Glad your parents didn’t have to bury you. Mine had to bury my younger brother (age16) in 1970 due to suicide.

You’ve created something there. Wonderful ! I’m 70 too , and getting by without too many complaints. My weight has been constant , and I’m reasonably active. I read a lot. Still gig every week. A lucky one.

Thank you! When I bought it I had no real idea what it looked like because it was a very dull flat finish. Actually after doing some more polishing just prior to my photo I was really surprised. Like I said in my post on your Acoustic Build, Nothing I did or can do comes close to what you are building.
