and am working on my MA nonres since I live so close to the border and cross over all of the time. I'm *very* interested in how that works out for you. Of course I know that NH is Constitutional carry -- but have you taken the time get your NH P&R permit? Last I checked, MA requires a copy of your home state carry license before it will issue a MA LTC. I just like to keep up on this stuff. Yep, I got my NH license the same day I changed over my DL from IL. They apologized that it took overnight because the person who processes the licenses had already left for the day when I dropped it off.

I’m loving it here! I have my first SBR paperwork in progress, and am working on my MA nonres since I live so close to the border and cross over all of the time. The scenery here is gorgeous. Good to hear. Are you retired? We’re looking for someplace to land next year.

Nope, working from home here. But I may pull the plug next year after I turn 59.5.

Anyone have experience/opinions on Alabama pocket holsters? I know there are opinions on pocket carry 😄, more interested in the product. At the recommendation of a departed personality here I bought a Mika pocket holster for my LCP and while it is fine, it took months to get with a lot of cricket chirping in between. I have a Dasantis pocket holster for my LCP- works great.

Put about 80 rounds through the P365 today. Me + broadside of barn = 0, lol. It's been quite a while since I've pew-pew'd, but man I was pretty consistently low and right (shooting lefty). I seemed to get a bit better at the end, but I'm wondering if I have sight adjustment issue.

I found a great shooting range, 15 minutes away, private 200 acres with 16 different designated shooting ranges. Yeehaw. I miss shooting outdoors.

I did end up joining the nearby gun and game club and was processed last week. It has an indoor 50’ range that is open 24 hours to members and outdoor ranges from 50’ to 600 yards plus shotgun and archery. They have action ranges for practical shooting and a dedicated outdoor turning target bullseye pistol range, too. It’s a really a nice operation, and I see lots of MA license plates.
A purchase this week made me fondly remember Mike (MJB) and Tom (TeleThom.) All three of us were revolver aficionados, and Mike in particular always busted my chops for not having a good utility .357 around the house - he was very fond of his S&W 686 that was the subject of the first post in this thread. I identified two that I wanted years ago, slightly oddball S&Ws that were only made in small quantities for a few years in the early naughts - L frame seven shot Models 619 and 620. The 619 is fixed sight stainless, basically a slightly enlarged Model 65 with an unshrouded ejector rod; the 620 has the same relationship to a shrouded, adjustable sight Model 66. The L frame gives them a durability advantage over a K frame, and the seventh shot moves the cylinder bolt cuts to between the charge holes instead of being right on the thinnest part of the cylinder wall. They hold up better to magnum shooting.
I found the rarer 619 a few years ago, and have always been looking for a clean 620. I did see and pass on a few that were a little beat up for the price, but found a new in box one. I paid a little more that I planned, but NIB is hard to find. It should be here next week. I’ll set it up like my Model 69 (a 4.25” L frame five shot .44 Magnum) with a plain black serrated blade Bowen Rough Country rear sight and a Patridge front with gold bead to give me a cleaner sight picture, a Hillary Hole plug and Hogue rubber Bantam grips.
I’ll always think of my two departed friends when I shoot this one.

I have a couple of pocket holsters, but I almost never use them. My concern is being in my car, with the seatbelt covering the pocket slit, making the pistol less than immediately available. Probably goes back to all my years on patrol, having my sidearm "right there" without restriction. My "every day" weapon of choice is a little Kel-Tec .32 that tucks into my waistband with its integral clip on the grip. Seated or standing it's at the belt line, ready to go.

Yeah, I'm fond of pocket holstering but not in the car, especially since I'm left handed.

Sounds like you're gripping the gun too tight with your left hand and pushing it low and right when pulling the trigger. I was doing the same thing (but opposite since right handed) until I learned to relax my firing hand grip.

Got my brother’s 1966 Mossberg 12 gauge w/ventilated rib goose gun. Hasn't been shot in 52 years since he passed away but has been taken good care of. Nice wooden stock and blued ~30”barrel. It is a bit unwilding to use inside so I bought a Joe B approved 12 gauge pump with 18” nickel finished steel barrel for home defense in event I need to rack the gun to scare intruders off 🤣😂🤣😂

I don't know why, but I have been jonesing for one of these...highly rated but I've not had the chance to test one out....and Kel Tec is right down the street from me...

The last time I renewed my license in MA it took 4 months. Last time I renewed I uploaded a pic of my ugly mug on a website entered my CC# for the "tax" then hit the enter button. I saw some wheely deal running in a circle then got a message saying my new ID is in the mail. I've used just about every concealed holster made, my favorite way to carry my Colt defender is in my right rear pants pocket. Just have to be careful when taking out my wallet.

Any of y’all have a lightweight Commander-class .45? I’m feeling the urge… I went down that rabbit hole a few years ago -- I was looking at a couple of the S&Ws. Nice, but at around $1500, at the time, I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. If I could have bought a Colt Commander (I can't, not allowed in MA) I would have gone that route.
In the end I considered the reality that I wasn't likely to carry one anyway so I gave up on the search. Of course, I already have a full sized 1911, so the smaller version would just be a redundant and expensive range toy.
If I were going to carry a .45 it would most likely be the Shield.

Many moons ago my primary carry was a Lightweight Commander in .38 Stupid, I always liked how it carried. I’ve been mostly a Glock guy for a long, long time but they don’t have much Texas BBQ cachet, lol. I‘m really liking the looks of the Dan Wesson ECP, a slightly modernized 4”er (not 4.25”) with different profiles and a bull barrel (no bushing.) I’d like to find one to check out, though.

I ended up buying a black variant M18 (fairly hard to find) and put a Wilson compact grip module on it. I’m really enjoying it so far, and am now tempted to scratch another itch I’ve had for some time - a manual safety variant P365. Do any of y’all have a P365? How do you like it? A good friend has a P365 SAS that I have shot, but being an analyst I’m always looking for more data… Hey - didn't see this post before. I have a manual safety P365. I love the thing. It took me about 50 rounds to get used to a striker fired pistol (I've previously avoided them), but it's a gem. I added an Icarus Precision A.C.E. aluminum grip module because I loathe polymer guns. I bought the P365 sight unseen based on how much I love my P238 and the rave reviews. The description said it was a steel framed pistol.....if you call that little trigger assembly a frame I guess. Anyway, even with the polymer, it's a great shooter and the balance is much, much better with the upgraded grip module. I also added a slightly extended mag release so that I didn't have to change my grip to drop the mag. I got a rockin' deal on the "tac pac"....the p365 + 3 mags for $495 IIRC. 7 yard groups are about the size of a salad plate (maybe 5") with a moderate rate of fire (1/sec or 1.5 sec). I routinely practice starting from a low ready position with the safety on. My thumb just naturally sweeps the safety as I bring the gun up to firing position now.

Since I moved up to the farm, back in 2012, I haven’t been carrying. Not much violence up here. I’ve decided that maybe I should, these last few years have increased stress and it seems to bring out the worst in some that are generally teetering on the edge any way. I just order a CCW holster that is primarily a cell phone pouch, that will hold the Kel-Tech P3AT, probably hold a spare mag too but that isn’t necessary.

I would agree - the trick is consistent hand and finger index, once you have that down cold I’ll bet you see a change.
