My Mustang amp has stopped communicating via USB. Software in the computer seems OK. Wondering if the reset function on the amp might cure this. I have tons of presets I have built and the reset will delete all of them. Has anyone encountered this and how did you fix it ? The USB on the computer seems to be working fine as it sees other devices just fine. Dont want to lose all I have done with presets over the years but if reseting the amp will restart the USB I will do it. Help !

Does your computer require a installed driver to work with the mustang? Bad cable?

It appears that the drivers are intact. Not a cable issue.

I found this on a different forum, maybe it will help?
"If your windows computer does not recognize your Mustang and the cable and all the software is up to date then go to your audio settings in Control Panel. Under the Recording tab look to the devices pane and right click and select 'show all devices' then look for the Mustang Amp and right click that and click'Enable' , the Mustang is USB audio device. Now if that is all in order and the Mustang still does not connect then go into your Control Panel > Hardware&Sound > DeviceManager find where the Mustang USB is on the drop downs and right click and delete it, as you do that unplug the Mustang's USB. Then shutdown the computer. Plug in the Mustang USB and start the computer. The computer should automatically redirect the drivers and should correct the issue. Then also check the step one again make sure it all good. Hope that helps. Make sure the amp is also powered on when the USB's are connected."

Non progress report. It seems the usb in the amp is corrupted. I did the factory reset , lost all my presets and it didnt help. The amp is trying to send but it is unreadable to the computer usb. When the amp is turned on to connect , I get a window that says , synching with your computer but it never does actually resolve. I guess im gonna lose the use of this amp.

Im not one to give up easily. Mustang usb comms are working ! Turns out it was a problem with Microsofts Silverlight app. Reloaded it and it now works. I am so relieved. Thanks for the helps guys.

When thia started happening I was seeing a window that indicated buffering. I had never seen this particular window before although I have had and used this amp for years. It was just a graphic with a squiggly line that showed a graphic for the buffering. Eventually I right clicked on this window and it gave me a message that indicated that it (the buffering window) was part of Microsoft silverlight (like a flash player). I was able to reload Silverlight and it cleared the problem. The Mustang Fuse software has its own proprietary buffering window and somehow this Silverlight was superimposed over it. Go figure. I spent the better part of 2 days dealing with this. Working now.

Rebuilding Presets ! Did one real nice Twin Reverb surf set. Also a Super Sonic high gain. Hope this amp has many more years to work.

One other suggestion for the future on any USB issue - try a different port.
Stupid, but it does work.
And I feel you, I have other modelling things, but still love my Mustang V half-stack for when I want stupid loud, and it's a damn fine amp for my Bass VI in particular for thump.
Fender NOT doing anything but phone apps is one of the things that stopped me buying any of their stuff.

Yes. I love my existing Fender gear but I am done with buying their products. Not supporting the Fuse software is a big mistake. I mostly use my Mustang for other guitarists to utilize when they come to play. It gives them options without bringing an amp.

For me it's the planned obsolescence thing.
I can run an older PC for nearly forever - but phone apps come and die, and the phone only things with no USB or LCD screen...are paperweights with an expiration date.
Even if I don't have a PC, I can get the Mustang V dialed up with the LCD>
And the Boss Katana sounds good on its own, and dials in like an amp, and the USB/software combo even if it died I'd be happy.

I remember having problems with Silverlight on Windows 7(?). I think Microsoft ended support of the product in 2021.

Yes they dont support it anymmore. It still lives in W-10. Ive not had any further problems and the functionality of the Mustang amp is 100%. Having Kahlua turkey tomorrow ? Mmmmmmmm..........
