If anyone else has a thing for carbon fiber acoustics, Rainsong floored me today with their announcement of a limited WS1000 reissue at very, very reasonable pricing. It has the much prized original N1 neck profile and HSC. Just an FYI.

I became mildly interested after watching this guy for a while. He plays that Rainsong most of the time, but also frequently an Emerald X7. They have a distinctive, unique sound. I, personally, for me, cannot justify the expense; I really like those X7s, though, preferring a short scale. Honestly, I can't see an acoustic contender challenging my Taylor GS mini mahogany. www.youtube.com/channel/UCcAC2Xkb_b2MPRXCCNXaJ-w/videos

I have two Rainsongs currently, a limited edition 12 fret “Shorty” and a WS3000 12 string. I’ve come to prefer the body and neck of the WS3000 and have been idly considering replacing the Shorty with a WS1000, but never got around to it - plus the used proces have really been climbing. This reissue is less than most used WS1000s.
I had a X7 for a few years, but it didn’t get much play and was moved on. My Emerald Balor ABG is going into the fire with me, however.
Taylor really created something amazing with the GS Mini series! If they had a 1.75” nut, I’d probably have one. As it is I have and love my GS Mini Bass.

I almost bought one back in the 90s when I watched a demonstration at a guitar show. The guy filled the guitar with water, shook it out, and played it. Incredible. If I lived on a sailboat, I'd own one.
It makes sense that they would be a lot cheaper these days, with offshore manufacturing making production far cheaper. At least I'm assuming they've offshored 'em.

Well, I went ahead and ordered one. Let’s see if I actually sell the Shorty, I’m bad at moving off gear. With the WS1000 for general use I can dedicate the Shorty to what it does best - fingerstyle. (Ain’t I great at rationalization?)
I need a small acoustic amp, too - I’m thinking a Loudbox Mini.

Did you plug into your new Loudbox mini yet? How’s that?

Things are a little crazy here, and I haven’t had a chance to do anything with the Fishman beyond being sure it turns on and makes noise.

I understand entirely, having been through very worrisome times concerning my wife a couple of decades ago, and I hope for the best outcome for yours. The worrying is so emotionally and physically draining; all-consuming and exhausting. If you have some time and the inclination, check out these YouTube videos of a carbon fiber guitar I discovered online yesterday. I'm sure it sounds like crap (too thin for me), but I'm racking my brain in search for a justification to buy one. The best reason I can come up with is that it is a toy, and I just want one (to see what it's like). It's sure cheap enough, being on sale, and its scale is right up my alley. It looks like it would be a great beater guitar for roughneck kids and frequent travelers. On sale here, with free shipping, $160. A variety of colors, although black appeals to me: reverb.com/marketplace?product_type=acoustic-guitars&product_type_uuid=3ca3eb03-7eac-477d-b253-15ce603d2550&query=Enya+Nova+GoPS - Well, I ordered one; went for the white.

Those inexpensive Enyas have a following on AGF, I considered one but don’t really have a need. I suspect it’s a matter of finding the right strings.
If they did a GS Mini Bass analogue, I’d probably jump on it! Let us know how it works out.

I have a set of silk & steel strings already, D'Addario .011-.047, one size heavier than what I have on the Taylor GS mini (10-50). If they don't work out, I also have a set of John Pearse 80/20 bronze wound, .012-.053 I'll try. It's always fun getting a new guitar, no matter what it is. If I knew that I'd really be into carbon fiber guitars, that Emerald X7 would be in my sights. I've never seen, let alone played a carbon fiber guitar, so this will be a neat introduction. I'll return with a follow-up report.

The guitar is just...... awful. The novelty of having a carbon fiber guitar wore off in about 90 seconds. I guess I can return it, but after shipping fees, it would be about a $100 guitar..... ((might as well keep it)) I like a challenge: the zero fret is high (did the capo test) as well as the bridge saddle. The strings are not good. If you watched that second video I posted, these strings sound the same: the slightest friction from fingers as you move up & down the fretboard yields an ungodly screeching noise. I ordered a couple sets of the strings like I have on the Taylor.
No doubt HD's guitar is vastly superior.
