Got an extremely good deal on this 2016 Fullerton Model bass that was never used. Custom made for Guitar Center but they exchanged 2 of them at G&L for a new color. Talked with the guy on another forum that bought the other one and said it is beautiful and a tone monster. Blessed to have a friend bring this to my attention the day after it went on sale from the G&L store. Apparently spent it's time in original case (included) and box. Still has the plastic protector sheet on the Pickguard. I personally think it didn't sale because that one year only they put a metal plate with serial number screwed onto the back of the headstock because the color to me is striking and Binding is a custom option. I think they decided to use the plate because when someone sends their instrument in for a neck change they use the same S/N as it came with stock. The plate was an easy to use option (but not a very well thought out one). Anyway, here are some photos of it. They are going to wait to ship it to me until the Monday after Thanksgiving as I will be at my son's. Cannot wait to get it. I have a 2021 Tribute LB-100 that I really love. The pickup is really sweet sounding (can say that about many Fender's I have had including my Fender American Pro Jazz and Player P. The tributes are very good bang for the buck (more so than Fender) as I got the Tribute LB-100 for $549 and the Fender Player P goes for $849 and frankly blows the Fender Player P out of the water in playability, sound, and quality of stock hardware. imgur.com/a/b4xWJ4v

Thanks Leftee! I can't wait to see how it compares to my Tribute LB-100 which I like almost as much as my Fender American Pro Jazz and more than my Fender Player Series P. I sold my Shortscale Fallout which after playing medium sized necks I couldn't warm up to the shorty. I will likely sell my G&L SB-2 Tribute Locally in next few weeks.

Sweet! I hope it sounds as good as it looks. G &Ls are fine basses. Play it like you stole it because at that price you did!

The Tribute almost rivals my Fender American Pro Jazz and out classes my Fender Player series P so cannot wait to get it.

I’m a P guy, and that’s a color combination I’ve always liked (I had a EBMM that color.) Very nice!

I received the bass just after 1:30pm yesterday. Is as new as it lived in it’s case and box since 2016 until they wanted to trade back to G&L for another color. The Case and Bass look like they were just made. The binding surprised me as it is wood and beautiful. This was custom made for Guitar Center. The bass came with the Case, wrenches, Certificate of Authenticity signed by Mrs. Leo Fender, spec. sheet and new strings. It has a bone nut that is perfectly cut. It was perfectly intonated (spot on with my Peterson Strobostomp Virtual strobe tuner) and with low action. I have never had an instrument where each note on the fretboard was dead on perfect like this one. Nice satin neck, ultra lite tuners that are very smooth to operate as my other 2 G&L tributes are too. The body is Ash with Ruby Red sparkel finish, has solid shaft CTS pots and USA Jack (assume it is Switchcraft). While the strings (rounds) sound good I cannot deal with the finger noise from my “lazy” style of playing so I put some Sadowsky Flats on it. Rather enjoy playing that trying to master lifting fingers all the time but that is just me. It came unshielded so I installed copper shielding in it. G&L say’s they no longer Plek their Fullerton Deluxe models (according to them their method is just as good) but I suspect it was logistics (time and cost). Glad mine was as it has shown to make a big difference. imgur.com/a/6jIEIXr

Auf and Morrow , thank you both. It is the nicest bass I have ever owned. I love My Fender American Pro Jazz but this one is prettier. If I pair down to two basses it will be this one and the American Jazz. I would probably keep the Tribute sister to this bass for when I needed a bass where I didnt want to use the other two

Thanks Eric. I measured the nut width at 1.620”. The neck width and Thickness is very comfortable for a P style bass. I like The rolled edges that my tTribute doesn’t have but I will probably put a roll in it too.

It was perfectly intonated (spot on with my Peterson Strobostomp Virtual strobe tuner) and with low action. I have never had an instrument where each note on the fretboard was dead on perfect like this one. I forgot to mentioned it was Plek’d. A G&L friend who told me about this bass said in 2021 when he had G&L make a new neck for his bass that had a hump in the fretboard. At that time they told him they do not Plek on newer basses as they found their method worked just as well. Personally I think they found it too time and costly to Plek but that is just my thoughts on the matter and have no proof of this. I can say their Customer Service is very good as my friend has found out several times even when a bass he bought used had a tuner fail and they sent him a new one at no cost. When he sent the bass back in for a new neck to be made, they even asked him what spec’s he wanted in it. He told them just make it like the one he sent back for replacement. Who does that these days! Not Fender, that is for certain.
